Anti-White Gowns for Less

"Dear RB, I've heard of brides that had their gowns made in Divisoria and this sounds appealing to me because I don't think it's practical to spend on the gown but I don't have the time to go through all that trouble. Do you have other suggestions on where I can buy a wedding gown? I want something that costs reasonably without sacrificing quality. Definitely nothing in the six figures! Help!" -- Yvette

Bluefly.com is ALWAYS on sale!
Monique Lhuillier gowns are available at Nordstrom Rack
From Rebellious Bride Kai:

Dear Yvette, I am all for buying RTW gowns. In fact, my absolute favorite is going through Rustan's selection of Tadashi Shoji gowns. Here's a trick: wait for Rustan's to go on sale!

However, if you simply don't have the time to wait for a sale, there are two websites that I HIGHLY recommend: Bluefly and Nordstrom Rack-- they have a great selection, and their sale prices are out of this world!

I also just recently discovered that Nordstrom Rack carries Monique Lhuillier gowns. In my recent trip to the States, I was able to buy a Lhuillier gown for FIFTY DOLLARS -- that's Two Thousand freakin' pesos!!! Amazing! *The picture on your right is the same Monique gown I bought for only fifty dollars!

Nordstrom Rack's website doesn't carry Monique Lhuillier gowns on sale though--but you will still find great deals just the same!

Here are some of my favorites from Blue Fly:

You'd be happy to know that Bluefly also has some really handsome suits perfect for your groom!

Here are some of my favorite Monique Lhuillier gowns from Nordstrom Rack. The collection is called "Bridesmaids" -- but I don't see why it can't be worn as anti-white or white w/ a twist bridal gowns.

There are some brides who are not willing to spend a lot on their gowns but are willing to go all-out when it comes to their accessories (because it can still be used after the wedding). If you are one such bride, here are some fabulous shoes and necklaces on sale as well!

Here are some tips & tricks when buying online:

1. Think about it long and hard but not too much that you end up missing the chance. There are A LOT of girls who shop and hunt for on-sale items online. Maybe not here in the Philippines, but elsewhere, it's already a given. You'll be surprised that items get sold out or wait-listed very fast. So if your heart is set on a particular gown, don't over think it too much.

2. Is it safe? Yes it is safe. HOWEVER, the problem sometimes actually happens in our own customs. Some of them are just really greedy and would add more tax--and it's just one of those things we have to live with. But I've been shopping online for almost 12 years now. The trick is to have it gift wrapped with a message to you like "Happy Bday Kai!". This is not a guarantee that customs will not add additional tax on your item, but I can vouch for myself that it always works for me. Better yet, have someone from the States bring it home for you!

3. Order a dress that is bigger than your size---then have it altered here so that the feel of the gown will still be tailor-made.

Happy shopping!

XOXO,
Kai
