There are serious vows, templated vows, and then there are vows that naturally speak from the heart--vows that are so personal, it gives everyone who bares witness to the wedding, a window to each of the couple's hearts and souls. When it comes to personal vows, should "rules" apply? We don't think so. As long as it is not obscene, the very essence of personal vows should be that it is what you want to say--whatever the length, whatever the number of pages, whether you read it from a paper or an iPad or you want to wing it, it's entirely up to you. Mica's vows for instance, even had a reference to FRIENDSTER. Winner! :)
