Rebellious Theme: Reality Bites

Lelaina: He's so cheesy, I can't watch him without crackers.

When you’ve had enough of the cavity-inducing-fairy-tale themes (and there's nothing wrong with that), here’s a cold dose of BIG GULP slushie truth – a Reality Bites-inspired wedding

*play mixed tape with My Sharona here* .

After all, most love stories are never simple. Some are complicated. Some involve twists & turns. Some might as well be a movie in itself with its mix of drama and comedy.

Plus, me thinks the next big thing after "vintage" weddings are decade-inspired ones (90s naman!). But then again that's just me.

Lelaina Pierce: I was really going to be somebody by the time I was 23.
Troy Dyer: Honey, all you have to be by the time you're 23 is yourself.
Lelaina Pierce: I don't know who that is anymore.
Troy Dyer: I do. And we all love her. I love her. She breaks my heart again and again,
but I love her.

Gen X, MTVs, Doilies, Big Gulp, The Gap...these are just some of the inspirations you can use for your rebelliously real wedding.
THE BRIDAL LOOK
Troy Dyer: You look like a doily.
Remember the scene where Winona was going on a date and wore this white dress? Ethan Hawke said she looked like a doily. But i love doilies! And they look so sweet as a bridal dress. Here are some bridal look from designer Lela Rose
THE GROOM and ENTOURAGE  Vickie, played by Janeane Garofalo, works at the Gap. So why not play on classic crisp shirts and denim?
The dark denim suit looks so handsome! www.johnbartlettny.blogspot.com
Crisp white polo renditions for the entourage.
Or go with denim-themed attire for a change!

Gap Kids for the little ones.
THE SAVE-THE-DATE & INVITE  This movie had an awesome soundtrack so why not use mixed tape influences as design elements?
Create a list of your favorite songs, put your wedding date and print your photo as the tape's cover. Ilgordon.wordpress.com
You can use the tape to form a monogram of you and future hubby's initials.
Put a modern twist by using a USB that stores all information needed for the wedding
THE PHOTO SESSION Do a pictorial inside a 7-11 to use as your engagement pictorial and for your invites.
Of course, you can go more creative than what I googled. Photo from treehugger.com
OR you can do scenes from the movie instead with quotes from the characters:
Troy Dyer: You can't navigate me. I may do mean things, and I may hurt you, and I may run away without your permission, and you may hate me forever, and I know that scares the living shit outta you 'cause you know I'm the only real thing you got.
THE BRIDAL SONG Everyone will definitely get goosebumps when you walk to the song "All I Want is You" :) THE PARTY  If you're brave enough, why not host a wedding like a house party? Then hire a DJ and set-up a (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) colroful slushie buffet and a potato chip bar! You can also make cupcakes to look like Big Gulp drinks.

Use this as decor by changing 7-11 to your own wedding date :)

The whole movie and its awesome soundtrack can also help thin of many ways to make your wedding rebelliously your own. What would make a great bouquet for a theme like this? Or maybe you don't need one and carry a clapboard instead? The possibilities are endless! For more inspiration, here's the trailer of Reality Bites:

So rebellious, so 90s!
