Since I’ve been engaged, I’ve been asked this question several times: Who’s doing your makeup?

The answer: MOI. There were a few who objected on the basis that I should relax and let someone else do the beautifying. Valid. BUT I have decided that I know my face best and will do an awesome job on making me look like me.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not telling you to do your own makeup. I’m just saying that it is now a viable option.

Quick quiz: do you know the following: concealer, corrector, brow gel, eyeshadow sealant? If not, then luckily for you there are a lot of makeup mavens in this country to choose from. Still, if the thought of applying your own makeup sounds appealing then go on and enroll yourself in makeup school. The key is to practice, practice and practice.

And when you have equipped yourself with the right skills and tools (or if you already have them to begin with) then be brave and do your own makeup. BYOMUA. Be your own makeup artist! Do it ala Regine Velasquez, Vanessa Matsunaga and…Kate Middleton!

While there are tons of article discouraging brides to do their own makeup, I say don’t be disheartened. If you know in your soul you can do the look you want, then why not? Makeup after all is a very therapeutic process. So don’t ever think that it will add to wedding stress. I even suggest you relish your alone time while you do your own makeup and call it zen-makeup mode.

Do you know any other brides who did an awesome job on their own makeup? Let us know!
