Rebellious Bride Maan on their breathtaking wedding venue

"Shackled For Life"....that's how Maan coined their wedding theme, or their wedding in general. A chemist being married to a jail officer. Interesting jobs deserved an interesting wedding, don't you think? There is no doubt that this wedding had a lot of unique details. But my favorite is really the venue and the fact that the couple was really determined to have a hilltop wedding despite the challenges.

Here are just some of the very many rebel details of the "Shackled For Life" wedding as told by the bride herself:

When Fred and I decided to get married, we knew we wanted something different, nontraditional and personal; something grand, as we were celebrating our 10th anniversary. We wanted a wedding which will define us and our relationship. We were classmates during our freshman year in college, taking up BS Chemistry. I ended up as a chemist and Fred as a jail officer, after transferring to a police academy. From the engagement shoot down to the favors, every detail screams rebellious. Oh well, almost every detail.

Theme and Motif : Our theme was based on our professions. As for the motif, we just combined our fave colors. Fred likes blue. I love orange. Plus, based on the color wheel, these colors are complementary of each other.

Engagement AVP : We had the locations in mind but did not have a concept. ‘Pa-tweetums’ was the last thing on our list. Thanks to CS Photography for conceptualizing a sort of ‘The Hulk’ story. We did the shoot in a real jail (yes, with real inmates) and in a chemistry laboratory.

Venue : Our original plan was a beach wedding. Four months of searching and we were nowhere near making our final choice. In the midst of fighting over our venue, we were suddenly struck by the idea of a hilltop wedding. The perfect spot? Ligñon Hill Nature Park. We were determined to be the first couple to be wed there, despite the difficulties regarding access and safety and tons of objections from our family.

Bridal bouquet and reception games : I had my bouquet divided into two for the purpose of giving each half to my mom and mom-in-law during the ceremony. It was my way of thanking them, as well as saying sorry for being a bridezilla.

We did not have the traditional bouquet and garter toss. Instead, our wedding coordinator had his own version of the games. For the ladies, it was called ‘Lab Match’. Participants were asked to drink from the test tubes with liquid of the same color then later asked what it tasted like. The one who got the drink with naiibang taste wins the game. For the guys, it was called ‘Cuff Me Not’. All participants were handcuffed. The lady winner has the key which will unlock the cuff of the lucky guy. The trick : There is only one key for unlocking all the handcuffs. The first handcuffed guy who the lady winner attempts to unlock is always the winner.

Table Elements : We used element symbols from the periodic table instead of numbers. A short description about the element was also provided.

Guest Tarp : A periodic table guest tarp was the best unique substitute for a guest book we could think of. It now hangs in our living room.

Wedding Favors : Unique and within our budget, the mini handcuffs were a hit!

A rebellious bride is someone who is creative, bold and a stand-out.

She is not afraid to go against tradition just to have her wedding HER WAY.

People may criticize her crazy ideas  but that does not stop her and her groom to make their dream wedding a reality.

Bride and groom against the world effect, eh?

Congratulations to Fred & Maan! And clap clap clap to a very memorable wedding!

XOXO,
Kai
