An Island For Two

The red light of the sun
Slowly descending

The sky is all I see
It's never ending

We could fly
You and I

On a cloud
Kissing, Kissing

The wind plays with the leaves
The weather turns colder

But as long as we believe
Love doesn't get older

On a journey of the heart
There's so much to see

And when the sky is dark
You'll be right here, right here with me

Want a unique beach wedding but you want something that's not done in the Boracays, Bellarocas, or Batangas of this world? Welcome to the private island, Bluewater Sumilon. My discovery of this island was quite serendipitous--there's no doubt about that. Being a self-confessed Boracay regular who's been going to the island yearly for 10 years, going out of my comfort zone was quite difficult. And I don't know if it was because of the supposedly impending doom of 2012 but I wanted to have a December 21, 2012 hurrah by discovering a new island. And that was when I literally stumbled upon Sumilon's website. We were excited and nervous about going to Sumilon because it was going to be something totally new and we didn't know what to expect. But when we arrived the island, all our worries literally melted away. So much so that my husband blurted out: "Let's get married again here"

Taken from my husband's Samsung Note
Found at the southern tip of Cebu, Sumilon is so private that you feel like you have the island all to yourself. You could spend hours upon hours in the shifting sandbar and wouldn't be disturbed by other people. You could choose your own nook found all over the island and just marvel at the view.

The island is surrounded by coral walls--the beach itself is like a giant coral fossil of National Geographic proportions. Because of the the sea wall, the waters display vivid hues of blue. And I've never seen waters this blue! It's just breathtaking!

There's a lot of things the island has to offer--from glamping (glamorous camping), hiking, whale shark watching, bonfire nights, to just lounging and relaxing. But what makes this island unique is the feeling of exclusivity. It's that exciting feeling as if you were in your own episode of The Bachelor when the dates are so out of this world like you were whisked away to another world of paradise. And it is because of this charm that makes this island the perfect wedding spot. A private island wedding...as in literally with just you and the guests enjoying the entire island --what more can you ask for? Even Boracay can't top that.

Although we haven't really worked out the details yet, we do plan to have our third year wedding anniversary party in Sumilon. That's how much we fell in love with this place. And whether it's the actual wedding, an engagement session, your honeymoon, or your anniversary, make sure to put Sumilon in your bucket list of things to do together as a couple. It's worth it. You'll want to stay longer and longer, and pray for an eternal summer.
