Rebellious Bride Jo's Style

Photography by Pat Dy

It's been awhile since we last featured a rebel bride and just zeroed in on her wedding style. It's a rare feature and not something that we just easily celebrate. So we are delighted to find a stylish rebel bride in Jo.

From Jo's prenup to her wedding, she exuded a style that's both spunky and romantic. Sure, she had an amazing team that worked with her but from how she shared with us her creative process, it was clear that she had a voice, an input, and a collaborative spirit.

As Jo explained to us, fashion and travel were two of her favorite loves which clearly resonated all throughout her engagement and marriage to Feli.

The bride's write-up is an interesting read. Enjoy.

Rebellious Bride Jo shares:

Surrounded by our closest family and friends, Feli and I  were married in the INC Locale of Malabag, Silang, Cavite in a very solemn ceremony.

We have been dating for 7 years before he proposed in a suite at their Sulo Riviera Hotel. Ever since our first visit to Antonio's during our first year of dating, we knew that Antonio's was the perfect place to host our intimate wedding reception. We loved Antonio's garden feel, the black and white tiled floors, the homey but elegant feel, and the perfect Tagaytay weather. We are also foodies so it was important for us that the food served to our wedding guests would be excellent.

Henry Pascual and I focused on modern, chic, minimal but gorgeous flowers to style the beautiful Antonio's restaurant. We chose purple, pink, white and green flowers.

As for the theme and motif, I wanted a modern but whimsical feel to the wedding so I chose grey and peach for the bridesmaids gowns. I came across June Pugat's Spring/Summer collection 2013 while browsing through a fashion blog. I was blown away by his talent in hand painting gowns. Without any hesitation, I sent him an e-mail right away. It was a very memorable collaboration with June. My girls had the most unique, couture gowns for the wedding.

Here is his take on creating the bridesmaids gowns:

"I hand-painted each piece using 5 shades for grey . I was inspired by my favorite poetry by Cummings, Neruda, Rilke, GarcĂa Lorca, and some of the ones I’ve written myself. Before creating the designs, in my mind I had the idea of the poet’s ink spilling over the petals of some other worldly flowers."

My non-negotiables were Pat Dy, Mayad and Veluz. Pat Dy for his classic, elegant photography style, Mayad for their romantic and cinematic shots and Veluz, how can you not love Veluz? Her dedication to her craft, the beautiful and intricate gown embroidery of pearls, sequins and swarovskis, and most of all, the signature Veluz illusion back details.

Overall, it was a beautiful wedding. I could not thank Jody Liwanag of Events Experts and her team enough for the perfect execution from the church ceremony down to the wedding reception.

Congratulations on your wedding Jo and Feli! May you exude the same love, romance, and style in your marriage as in your wedding.

  2. I had a very intimate wedding too... had strictly implemented rsvp and really limited our guests to 70 pax only our very very close family, relatives, family friends and friends including the photographers and videographers only... what my husband and I enjoyed more about our wedding was the fact that our guests stayed from the very start up until our hosts/friends said their closing remarks..in that moment we both realized these people who were with us on our wedding day are the ones who will be with us til the end.. i guess more couples should be more rebellious in cutting their guestlist stop minding what other people will say because a wedding is really about the God, the bride, the groom and LOVE ones.. you wont get annoyed pa with those who will just attend the reception and then eat and run after.. ;-) Kudos to Jo and Feli!
