The Wedding Agency - The Midnight Skies & Pink Sunsets Wedding

Mik & Paula humbly say that they are not quite rebellious. Not rebellious? Let's see....they kept the wedding details under wraps, the bride confidently asserted herself and leveled with her mom when needed, an Akon song as the bridal march, allowed the entourage to wear their own gowns, flower bags as bouquets, required vodka shots before entering the reception, a ceiling that literally dramatized the "Midnight Skies & Pink Sunsets" theme we conceptualized for them, a textured cake that unbelievably looks unreal, traditions done "on-the-side" w/o forcing guests to watch them, a wedding documentary instead of the usual love story avp,  the wackiest but most emotional surprises in between. Even the priest they got was the coolest and funnest officiator I have ever witnessed performing a church ceremony! Not rebellious? You've got to be kidding me.

--- RB Kai on Rebellious Couple Mik & Paula's Midnight Skies & Pink Sunsets Wedding

RB Mica and I will never ever forget Mik, Paula, and their wedding. They are our VERY FIRST clients for The Wedding Agency. The trust and confidence that they have given to us is just priceless.

Perhaps the reluctance to call themselves rebellious comes from the fact that there were still a lot of classic elements in their wedding. But that's just it. The brief that was given to us was that they wanted a "classy but makulit" wedding--just like the couple's personalities. Like a romantic comedy film, it was the perfect balance of the sweet and the sense of humor. Mik & Paula's wedding concept, is just proof that the classic and the rebellious can coexist together--just like when the midnight sky blends with the pink sunset--you get an absolutely, breathtaking, spectacular piece of heaven.

When Mik & Paula came to us, they were literally starting from scratch. There were only 2 things that they were sure of: the fact that it had to be a super fun wedding, and that the colors were going to be midnight blue and pink. But when we went through the process of "insighting" (a process commonly used in advertising when you dig deeper to find the sweet spot of your target market), that's when we discovered that Mik & Paula are just like a Romantic Comedy film. So we built on that.
When we saw these amazing photos, we knew right then that we have found the perfect mood we were looking for.

Mik & Paula, a Story of a Boy Meets Girl--are about to star in their own Rom Com entitled:

and you should know upfront, that this one has a happy ending...

Here are just some of the things we conceptualized for the couple
that were part of their walkthrough:

We've given the couple a whole slew of recommended wedding artists. Eventually, here were the artists we suggested that they inevitably decided on:

And here is how "Midnight Skies & Pink Sunsets" unfolded on May 12, 2012:

Rebellious Brides:  Why did you keep your wedding a secret from everybody else? And why would you recommend for other couples to do the same?

Mik: WE DID IT SO WE CAN EXECUTE WHAT WE REALLY WANTED TO DO WITHOUT (AS MUCH) INFLUENCE FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS. AS YOU KNOW, WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO BOTH OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. IN FACT, WE CONSIDER MOST OF OUR FRIENDS AS FAMILY, AND BECAUSE OF THAT WE EXPECTED THAT IT WOULD BE VERY EASY FOR EVERYONE TO GIVE SUGGESTIONS, ETC. WE KEPT IT A SECRET BECAUSE IF THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ANYTHING, IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO SUGGEST AND/OR ADD INPUT TO WHAT WE WERE DOING. PLUS, WE DIDNT WANT TO STRESS OUT ANYBODY WITH THE PREPS

RB: Your cake was BEYOND COOL. Who made it? :)

Paula: HEARTS AND BELLS. WE SENT THEM A PHOTO OF A CAKE THAT WE LIKED AND WE HAD THEM PATTERN IT TO OUR COLOR MOTIF.

RB: The bridal march was very very unique and was also super astig. Who's idea was this? What's the name of the song, artist, and this particular version?

Mik: IT WAS ACTUALLY MY IDEA. IT'S BECAUSE I EASILY CRY DURING ROMANTIC MOMENTS SPECIALLY IF THERE'S A SAD/LOVE SONG PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND. PLUS, IM A BIG FAN OF WWE(WRESTLING) BEFORE. I LOVED IT WHEN THE WRESTLERS ENTER THE ARENA WITH THEIR ENTRANCE SONG PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND. THE ENTRANCE SONG USUALLY DESCRIBED WHAT KIND OF A WRESTLER THEY WERE. THAT'S WHY I REQUESTED OUR BAND - POWERHOUSE - TO EDIT THE SONG, ANGEL BY AKON, TO FIT FOR A BEAUTIFUL BRIDAL MARCH SONG FOR MY BEAUTIFUL BRIDE. WHEN THEY SENT ME THE FIRST DEMO WHICH THEY RECORDED IN THE CR OF BLUE LEAF BEFORE ONE OF THEIR WEDDING GIGS, I KNEW, IT WAS PERFECT!

RB: Your officiating priest was also very cool! Who's this priest? Hahah :)

Paula: HE IS FATHER PETER COCHING. ONE OF THE NEW PRIESTS OF CHRIST THE KING. HE DID THE MASS FOR OUR WEDDING VOCATION SEMINAR. WHEN WE HEARD HIS HOMILY THERE, WE KNEW HE WAS THE PERFECT PRIEST TO OFFICIATE OUR WEDDING. PLUS, HE SINGS!

RB: Why did you hire The Wedding Agency? How did this service help you guys?

Mik: WE HIRED YOU GUYS BECAUSE WE HONESTLY DIDN'T KNOW WHERE TO START. OF COURSE WE HAD IDEAS OF WHAT WE BOTH WANTED TO HAVE IN THE WEDDING BUT WE DIDN'T KNOW HOW WE WOULD ACCOMPLISH IT.

HOW DID YOUR SERVICE HELP US? - YOU GAVE US A PLATFORM WHERE ALL THE THINGS WE WANT INDIVIDUALLY CAN BE COMBINED INTO ONE CONCEPT THAT BEST DESCRIBED US AS A COUPLE - "THE MIDNIGHT SKIES AND PINK SUNSETS"

RB: What makes you guys a "REBELLIOUS COUPLE"? :)

Mik: AS YOU KNOW, WE ARE NOT AS REBELLIOUS AS THE ONES THAT GET FEATURED IN YOUR BLOG. WE STILL WANTED TO FOLLOW TRADITIONS, WE DIDN'T DO ANY CRAZY AND/OR UNIQUE STUFF (RB Kai's sidenote: As seen in this blog's intro, we totally disagree with this hehe).

BUT WE SURELY WANTED TO HAVE FUN. WE ADDED HUMOR TO AS MANY PARTS OF THE WEDDING AS POSSIBLE. AND IT HELPED THAT OUR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS WERE GAME TO EVERYTHING THAT WAS ON THE PROGRAM. WHAT WE DID WAS TO SHOW EVERYONE HOW WE TRULY ARE, A FUN LOVING COUPLE. WE JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN! WE KNOW YOU GUYS HAD FUN AS WELL. YOUR REBELLIOUS HUSBANDS WERE DRUNK WHEN WE PASSED BY YOUR TABLE. HEHEHE

RB: What can you advice to other couples who may want to have a creative wedding but are afraid to do so?

Mik: DON'T BE. THERE'S NO REASON TO BE AFRAID. YOU MIGHT JUST NOT KNOW WHERE TO START. READ THE REBELLIOUS BRIDES BLOG TO MUSTER UP THAT CONFIDENCE AND LET THE WEDDING AGENCY HELP YOU START YOUR DREAM WEDDING CONCEPT. FO SHO!
