Boracay Untold

Photography by Mayk Photography

Hello September! This year is going by so fast, don't you think? We are feeling particularly romantic, creative, and hip this time of the year.

To start the theme for this month, we'd like to introduce you to the works of Mayk Pericon of Mayk Photography. I absolutely love the way he photographs Boracay weddings in particular. It's like seeing Boracay and Boracay Weddings in a new visual experience---moody, poetic, and inspiring. He has so many photos that would keep you guessing if the wedding is really shot in Boracay. It almost feels like he can take you to places in the island that you've never even seen before.

Enjoy!

Ariel & Hannah - The Beach Life

Photography by Your Ever After Studios

I lurrrrve beach weddings! I am partial to beach weddings! But there's some sort of template or look that kind of becomes similar when it comes to beach weddings. But more and more we're seeing a lot of rebellious beach brides who are pushing the envelope in terms of evolving what is expected of a a seaside ceremony. Take for example Ariel & Hannah's wedding at the very serene and beautiful Playa Azalea in Samal Island. Ariel & Hannah embodied in their wedding, the ideal "beach life" -- waking up in the city, hopping  on and hopping off a boat if you wanted to have lunch in the island at any given time if you wanted to. It's the best of both worlds and you'll see that reflected all throughout the wedding: Garden meets Sands. Chic meets Laidback.

The Full Wedding Film

Cy & Kai - The Full Edit of the Bora Hop Wedding from Kai P. Cruz on Vimeo.

I've never seen a full wedding video, have you? We've fallen in love with the concept of "same day edit" that we've forgotten what a full one must look like. Imagine getting someone like Jason Magbanua, which is such a premium, and yet we've only really just seen the short film versions--and that's how good he is because you give him that full trust, and you are actually more than happy to just receive the 2 to 3-minute highlights of it.

So when we received our full video, we didn't have any expectations. At the very least I figured, it would obviously have more clips of the wedding. But I never in a million years would have known that the full edit was actually even better than the short version---if that's even possible to fathom.

Watching this video brought about so many emotions and so many surprises. The DVD also comes with a copy of your vows--which is a great reminder of why you guys married each other.

An Understated Rebellious Boracay Wedding

Pure Genius. I've never seen a Boracay Wedding like this before. Rebellious by the sheer understated modern minimalist take on everything. So effortlessly cool. So effortlessly beautiful. Mangored never ceases to make us drool.

Rebellious Bride with a BIG HEART

This Thursday, a dear friend of mine is getting married in Boracay. She also happens to be one of our clients for The Wedding Agency. We conceptualized her entire wedding which we called "By the Sea". But before we go into the details of her wedding, I'd like to zero in on what she's asking her entourage to wear. Any guesses? She's asking us, her bridesmaids, to wear a WHITE SHIRT. Yes folks. You read it correctly. A WHITE SHIRT. And she's not asking us to wear this just for the sake of being rebellious or being cool. She's asked us to wear it because it is for a worthwhile cause. In fact, Rebellious Bride Mabeth has such a big heart that she made sure to incorporate a lot of wedding details and buy products for her wedding that will go to a charity or something made proudly Pinoy.

The bride sent my shirt in a beautiful and simple Kada box which says "Wear it Forward". It had a simple sweet handwritten note, written in Kada's postcard type of card that certifies their shirt's craftsmanship and their goal to send children to school.

Kada Clothing's goal is simple. For every 20 shirts sold, they get to send a child to school. The best part? Their shirts are eco-friendly and has got to be one of the most amazing "not-so-basic" tees I've ever worn! And this is how I plan to rock my white tee during the wedding:

To pair the white shirt, the bride had us choose from her summer color wedding palette (I chose "Sunshine Yellow"), and she had customized Boho skirts made for us from proudly Pinoy brand, Brown Belly.

Established since 2006, Brown Belly has got to be one of the coolest beach bum brands in Manila that has its own cult following.

Rebellious Bride Mabeth didn't stop there. Our Rebellious Bride w/ a BIG heart also had this to give as their wedding tokens:

L-R: As a token for being part of the entourage and for helping out for the wedding, the Bride gave us Rags2Riches bags handcrafted by women from Payatas / Our very first personal note and gift!!!! So sweet and touching!!!

Mabeth got us coin purses from Rags2Riches Inc. which is an organization that ties-up with movers and shakers from the Philippine fashion industry the likes of Rajo Laurel, Amina Aranaz, Oliver Tolentino, among others, in designing eco-ethical fashion and home accessories out of up cycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics by working with women living in the poor communities across the country, mostly in Payatas. The mini bag that the bride gave us even came with a personal signature of the lady who handcrafted the purse.

Beautiful, brainy, and with a big heart. I can't wait to share Rebellious Bride Mabeth's wedding details with you all soon. Including a POWDER BLUE Hindy Weber Tantoco gown and a Vatel DIY shell bouquet.  You might also remember the bride from our The Rebellious Bride Series feature

In the meantime, here's a look at their Invitation Suite made by The Fozzy Book (Click the pic below)

Summer: DEFINITELY More Fun in the Philippines

I'm officially back from the Round 3/US trip guys! And though I was SUPER sad to leave the snow and pine trees behind, I am back here in Manila and well, what do you know? It's Summer!

And if you guys haven't figured it out yet, I am quite biased when it comes to beach weddings, even more biased when it comes to Jason Magbanua videos. So I'd like to officially welcome summer with this fabulous Bohol wedding! So many things to love about this wedding & video--the music, the super fun & quirky wedding details and overall vibe, the rebellious bride who poses and struts without a care in the world (she kinda reminds me of Marian Rivera for some reason), TWO weddings in one day (my kind of wedding! hehe),  and a rebellious date to boot! Enjoy!
