The Full Wedding Film

I've never seen a full wedding video, have you? We've fallen in love with the concept of "same day edit" that we've forgotten what a full one must look like. Imagine getting someone like Jason Magbanua, which is such a premium, and yet we've only really just seen the short film versions--and that's how good he is because you give him that full trust, and you are actually more than happy to just receive the 2 to 3-minute highlights of it.

So when we received our full video, we didn't have any expectations. At the very least I figured, it would obviously have more clips of the wedding. But I never in a million years would have known that the full edit was actually even better than the short version---if that's even possible to fathom.



Watching this video brought about so many emotions and so many surprises. The DVD also comes with a copy of your vows--which is a great reminder of why you guys married each other.

An Ode to Being Special

Some say that your wedding is your ONE day to be special. You only get one day. Just one day. So they say get a grip of yourself because it's back to the real world the next day and you are not suppose to act like a bride anymore. 

Sure, you were probably extra special on your big day, but it doesn't mean you are no longer special. Each and every person is special whichever day it is, and you deserve to live happily ever after even under harsh circumstances. 

I look at my former bride friends pursuing their dreams, honeymooning with their husbands every year, basking in motherhood and I think they are all pretty damn special in their own choices and in their own right. You don't just get one day. You deserve to be happy every single day. The wedding, and the wedding planning is just your test. The next day, you are planning an adventure to be a wife, running your own household, researching on parenting skills, creating your baby's first birthday, planning for your first anniversary, getting everyone in the group to bond and hang-out, developing meal plans and perfecting your first signature dish. So bask in your own light. Yes, your wedding day is a day to savor, but there are more special days to come, and it doesn't mean you no longer deserve to feel special.

Rebellious Proposals - More Fun in the Philippines

While I was "hanging out" at Bridetastic's virtual Cafe, I read Bridetastic Bride rachelcrz' question: "It seems that engagement/wedding proposal planning is a trend in the US. I wonder how much effort Pinoy men really put into the proposal planning."


-- I immediately felt the need to boast of our Pinoy men (naks)!  I think  Pinoy men are very rebelliously creative when it comes to their proposals! So naturally, I answered rachelcrz' question with links to some of the awesome proposals that I am quite familiar with. Here are just some of those proposals!

Putting his acting, singing, and "hot-headedness" to good use (hehe), Marc proposed to Rebellious Bride Mica while pretending to having a fight with some guys who were supposedly laughing at him. The guys had a guitar and Marc grabbed it from them and started singing. The funny thing is, Mica was upset that Marc was picking a fight and thought he'd gone mental so she walked out! Hahah! Watch the entire video on how this plot "thickens" :)

April 28, 2011 - the staff of Magic 89.9 was briefed that a proposal was going to take place live, on-air, during DJ's CJ and Suzi's The Big Meal show. The radio station was just as excited, nervous, and anxious as the soon-to-be engaged lover boy because it was actually the first-ever proposal the station will ever have in history.

What it is, is a more sensual and provocative shoot for the bride, which she gives to her groom before the wedding or you know, just to simply keep to remember those days when you still look damn hot. First of all, Happy New Year to our dear Rebellious Brides! There were so many ways on how I could have written this "New Year" post---some of the things that I randomly thought of were: a recap of the 2011 rebellious wedding trends, or a simple greeting from me and Mica, or one, last rebellious post feature to end the year. But as I reflected on what would mean most, to us--and what meaningful post we can pass on to you, one thing in 2011 really stuck to me the most--and that is, how Mica and I both used the power of the law of attraction, positivity, and vision boards to get to where we want to be right now. In 2009-2010, a bunch of us girls, myself and Mica included, set out a goal to be married before 2012....and true enough, each and every one of those gals ARE married already! And boy was 2011 a big year for both me and Mica....how did we do it? We just tried our darnest to stay positive and fight for what we wanted. Sure, we've had some rough patches along the way but we tried to keep on fighting 'till the end (doesn't that sound like a line from "We are the Champions"? hehe).

So as we close one of the biggest and happiest years of our lives EVER, 2012 looks very bright for the Rebellious Brides...we are now at 120,000 pageviews in just 5 months of launching, and we are ushering in the new year with gigs for our Wedding Agency/Wedding Consultancy services, and our very first collaborations/campaigns about to launch in January of 2012. How awesome is that?!?!

While some couples choose to go the cheesy route (although being a cavity-inducing couple can still have a rebellious twist like in our Zombie Love entry), Samantha & Mauie chose to add some fizzle and sizzle.

One Month after 9.10.11 (Part 2)

To create a rebellious wedding, you and your groom must be willing to roll up your sleeves and not do anything half-assed (itodo ang topak) to make that day extra special. You have to work on it. You have to inject your personalities and make your wedding day truly your own.
Marc kept the wedding venue a secret up until the invites were out.
He's really good at surprises and it took all my willpower not to reveal the venue to our friends.
Squeeze those creative juices! But first, know what you want before you execute.

One Month after 9.10.11 (Part 1)

It's been a month since our wedding day! So I just had to celebrate with a blog! (So much exclams!)

We wanted our big day to be reflective of our personalities and our relationship. So naturally, we wanted it to be playful! We came up with a playful romantic theme inspired by the movie Little Rascals. As the movie says, “mischief loves company!”  And we do have lots of mischief lovin’ family and friends.





 




Throughout the entire preparation, Marc and I did everything hand in hand (and sometimes even holding hands). He was very involved and had the most awesome ideas (the flash mob and wedding traditions in 60 sec. are some of his ideas).  I was really proud of him for always having the enthusiasm to brainstorm with me.

We came up with Little Rascals because Darla and Alfalfa went through a lot, just like us! There were differences, like boys being stinky and girls being all sugar ‘n spice, but they found something in common.  There were obstacles, but they eventually ended up together.  Plus, Marc can wiggle his ear like Alfalfa! (See Marc's wiggly ears in our SDE at 2:05. Hehe.)
