Rebellious Brides Invade Bridetastic

Ex-Rebellious Brides, Rebellious Bride-to-Bes, and Future Rebellious Brides, we are now on Bridetastic. I am quite addicted to it right now and we encourage everyone to participate here as well because this is really all about Bride Empowerment!

This awesome intuitive new tool, which I personally would like to call the Facebook-cum-Multiply-cum-TripAdvisor for Brides and Ex-Brides is just a wonderful idea which now gives each former bride the chance to share, tag, review, and showcase her wedding and give honest-to-goodness feedback on her wedding vendors.  Here you can reminisce, review, and contribute on all things wedding related in a more streamlined, visual, creative, and honest approach.

Weddings & Videography - More Fun in the Philippines

The new Philippine Tourism campaign has indeed awaken another heated debate. Here in Rebellious Brides though, we choose to focus on the positive.

The Wedding Industry in this country is just oozing with so much talent and heavenly locations. The other day we featured a teaser on the campaign through the awesome photos of Mango Red. This time around, let's watch some videos from no other than Internationally-acclaimed and all-around wedding god, Jason Magbanua. More to come, in the next few days and weeks.

Random Rebellion #12

I just had to share this wedding photo! Aside from being rebellious, this is proof that the Department of Tourism's campaign is contagious. Thanks to Arnel and Carmela Sevilla for sharing this beautiful shot. #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines when it's a rebellious wedding!

In less than an hour from now, the Philippines' Department of Tourism, headed by Mon Jimenez will be launching its newest tourism campaign. In the teasers leading to the campaign, they revealed that at the very core of this campaign will be US--we are the "digital warriors" of our own country--it is up to us to spread the word, and create our stories and that one thing is for sure---this campaign will be FUN!

Here in Rebellious Brides, we want to contribute in our own little way. After all, 50% of our readers are outside of the Philippines. So while the campaign is just about to be revealed, here's our own teaser for it. Hey you! Why not get married in the Philippines? In Rebellious Bunch - MangoRed's website alone, they were able to capture beautiful destinations around the country through various weddings. Here are just some of these awesome weddings!

Rebellious Couple - Arnold & Jo Anne's 80s Kids Wed (Part 1)

Photos by Randolf Evan
"It was my Rebellious Groom who helped me discover the Rebellious Bride that I had in me! Our wedding is our celebration for the 10 years that we've been through as a couple, and we couldn't bear the thought of our celebration looking like somebody else's wedding. We were rebellious in the sense that we wanted our wedding to be about US."

Rebellious Bride Jo Anne Dumalaon-Canaria
on what makes her and her groom, a Rebellious Couple

This feature is quite special to us. On the surface, it's special because the couple got loads of DIY ideas because of the blog. But on a deeper level, out of all the submissions that we have received so far, this one really shows a certain validation that our blog is in the right, rebellious path. The bride muses that our blog has enlightened, convinced, and comforted not just her and her groom, but also their family--to understand their decisions, to defend their wedding ideas, and inevitably to avoid Bride Bullying. A couple and a family that were miles apart, we are also very overwhelmed to know that our blog broke barriers for this wedding/family affair. This couple truly wanted their rebellious side to be unleashed and they found it difficult. In the end, they are proud to say that their cause was worth fighting for. So we do hope that you learn a thing or two from this feature. Here goes :)

In Jo Anne's own words:

In the beginning, my “rebelliously creative” husband, Arnold, (fiancĂ©e at that time) had two requests: one was to have 80s songs for the reception (his favorite decade), and two to make the wedding our own (we didn’t want to, and we couldn’t afford a “wedding production”).

Fearless Rebellious 2012 Forecast

Gabby & Tina's very beautiful Rebellious Wedding

The fireworks have been released, all the well-wishes and hopes for 2012 have been said, and just the other day, photographer Nelwin Uy was already off to his first two weddings of the year. It's back to wedding business our dear Rebellious Brides, and it's always great to start fresh.

And what better way to start the year with forecasts, right? But lest you think that we are about to force down our trends, colors, and other what-not down your throats, you're wrong. The truth is, I don't care much for forecasts. I find them entertaining, but I don't believe in them.

I don't believe in dictating wedding colors for the year, just to shepherd the majority of brides into a color that will make their weddings look the same as the next. I don't believe in looking at Kate Middleton's gown and exploding the industry with lace, and more lace. So instead, here are our top 3 Rebellious Forecasts, that we think weddings in general are off to this year, on the basis of how we've seen the end of 2011 was unfolding itself to usher in 2012.

1. Rebellious Proposals

- They say that "uncertain times" bring out the need to profess love, and get married. Whether the end of the world is near or not, the truth is, we can't help but wonder. This is the year where everyone will be trying to accomplish their Bucket Lists, and a time to do grand proposal gestures--and it comes with an equally grand proposal video. One of our closest jeweler friends shared with us that in December alone, he found it so bizarre that he got so many calls from guys who are so eager to get a ring and propose--his family has been in the jewelery business since time and memorial and to him, this was out of the ordinary indeed. The need to document this momentous event has also been strikingly increasing. And why not? A proposal has got to be the most unbelievable moments for a couple. To immortalize it, the same way as the wedding will be immortalized, just makes so much perfect sense.

*Special thanks to Rebellious Bride Christine for the tip :)

First of all, Happy New Year to our dear Rebellious Brides! There were so many ways on how I could have written this "New Year" post---some of the things that I randomly thought of were: a recap of the 2011 rebellious wedding trends, or a simple greeting from me and Mica, or one, last rebellious post feature to end the year. But as I reflected on what would mean most, to us--and what meaningful post we can pass on to you, one thing in 2011 really stuck to me the most--and that is, how Mica and I both used the power of the law of attraction, positivity, and vision boards to get to where we want to be right now. In 2009-2010, a bunch of us girls, myself and Mica included, set out a goal to be married before 2012....and true enough, each and every one of those gals ARE married already! And boy was 2011 a big year for both me and Mica....how did we do it? We just tried our darnest to stay positive and fight for what we wanted. Sure, we've had some rough patches along the way but we tried to keep on fighting 'till the end (doesn't that sound like a line from "We are the Champions"? hehe).

So as we close one of the biggest and happiest years of our lives EVER, 2012 looks very bright for the Rebellious Brides...we are now at 120,000 pageviews in just 5 months of launching, and we are ushering in the new year with gigs for our Wedding Agency/Wedding Consultancy services, and our very first collaborations/campaigns about to launch in January of 2012. How awesome is that?!?!
