Wedding Agency: Bons & JP's Prenup Teaser
We're always extra excited when our client comes from the Rebellious Bunch! We helped out Bonsai Fojas, owner of Bonne Headcandy, by streamlining her wedding concept. And as she is a copywriter by day and loves all things "lola chic" (that's grandma chic), Mad Men was the perfect theme!
So for her prenup, we came up with the idea of re-enacting vintage ads from the 50s/60s. Very Mad Men, indeed! But we do love how how their personalities popped out in the photos. You see, Rebels, you can always make your engagement shoot more interesting if you just go beyond simply imitating and injecting a twist of your unique personalities.
In Bonsai and JP's retro ad, the chef does everything but cook! (And it really is JP who mostly cooks). LOVE the role reversal and how her fiance JP didn't take any of this seriously. The dash of comedy added to the prenup recipe was just fantastic. That is what we mean by taking pegs a notch further. Inspiration NOT Imitation.
Kudos to We Do It For Love Photography for their awesome work and for always having the
fastest teaser release EVER! Haha! We love it!

Yummy Tutu Weddings
An Ode to Being Special
children of the revolution
Some say that your wedding is your ONE day to be special. You only get one day. Just one day. So they say get a grip of yourself because it's back to the real world the next day and you are not suppose to act like a bride anymore.
I look at my former bride friends pursuing their dreams, honeymooning with their husbands every year, basking in motherhood and I think they are all pretty damn special in their own choices and in their own right. You don't just get one day. You deserve to be happy every single day. The wedding, and the wedding planning is just your test. The next day, you are planning an adventure to be a wife, running your own household, researching on parenting skills, creating your baby's first birthday, planning for your first anniversary, getting everyone in the group to bond and hang-out, developing meal plans and perfecting your first signature dish. So bask in your own light. Yes, your wedding day is a day to savor, but there are more special days to come, and it doesn't mean you no longer deserve to feel special.

The Rebellious Brides Series

In other countries, Boudoir sessions are popular for brides. What it is, is a more sensual and provocative shoot for the bride, which she gives to her groom before the wedding or you know, just to simply keep to remember those days when you still look damn hot. If you are not familiar with Boudoir, google it right now and click on images. Not for the faint of heart.
This kind of shoot however, is not really very appropriate for our type of culture because we are a bit more shy or "pa-shy effect" haha. And we have the solution for this. Presenting, The Rebellious Brides Series--a new product brought to you by your friendly Rebellious Brides Kai & Mica.
What is "The Rebellious Brides Series"? -- we unleash the rebellious sides of the brides by creating a dedicated fashion shoot for you--so you can "practice" before your prenup and wedding, learn the poses that work for you, and to have this dedicated day for you when you can be your own groom's Next Top Mowdel.
Rebellious Bride-in-the-making:
Dr. Mabeth Rivera
Engaged to Atty. Karym Laidan, Mabeth is the poster-girl for the shy, feminine, intelligent woman and we were very eager to bring out a different side of her. Here's a glimpse of that photo shoot. Enjoy :)

So as we close one of the biggest and happiest years of our lives EVER, 2012 looks very bright for the Rebellious Brides...we are now at 120,000 pageviews in just 5 months of launching, and we are ushering in the new year with gigs for our Wedding Agency/Wedding Consultancy services, and our very first collaborations/campaigns about to launch in January of 2012. How awesome is that?!?!
Random Rebellion #6
Rebellious Bunch - Bonne by Bonsai Fojas never ceases to surprise us.
Vintage-inspired Handmade Bridal and Entourage Bouquets
Bonsai writes: Each of the 200 floral appliques was made lovingly by hand using a gradation of satin fabric (white, ivory, beige and a touch of gold), accented with pearls, beads, brooches feathers and lace trimming for the handles. Didn't think I could do it, but I said yes anyway haha
How to Fight the Veil - Tradition, Perspiration, Suffocation
*for best results, read the title a'la Miriam Defensor*
"The Mantilla Veil is a win-win situation. There is no denying that this is a traditional veil--and your parents won't be able to contest it. At the same time, it will not suffocate you, and it will still look very chic." -- RB
Whichever way you look at it, a veil is just not practical in this tropical weather.
I don't care if it's "tradition". The way I see it, you should not be forced to wear a veil because:
a) you pay good money for your make-up which will melt by the sheer sight of the veil,
b) it's your big day, and you can barely keep it together and what the veil will do is just add shortness of breath and the feeling of being suffocated (worse, it can also stick to your face and you need to be careful not to step on it),
c) and the reason for a veil is so outdated in these times.
In fact, I have friends who are not of the rebellious kind--and yet they have decided to eventually lose the veil during their big day.

First of all, I'd like to thank fellow RB Kai for holding the fort while I was busy with all the wedding preps. She has also been very supportive of me, posting the awesomest blogs about our wedding day.
So now...I'm back to blogging! I'm quite rusty, but here goes:

And just. like. that. After less than 7 months of wedding planning, Rebellious Bride Mica is now Mrs. Fuentes!
The wedding was just as we expected it to be and so much MORE. Mica's groom (and now husband--hyessss!) wanted everything to be a surprise. We didn't know where the venue was going to be 'till the invitations were released a month before the wedding. But we knew well enough that it was going to be rebellious, super fun, and Little Rascals themed.
Rebellious Head Candies

I am a fan of allowing the entourage to shine with their own personal style. Also, if you are like us whose wedding funds are solely coming from nobody else but the bride and groom without as much as a cent from the parents, I am also a fan of looking for other creative ways to spend on the entourage apart from their dresses.
For our Boracay wedding, I allowed my entourage to wear what they wanted to wear--instead, I spent on their Kate Spade gifts which I bought during their sale. For the second wedding, I once again allowed my entourage to wear what they wanted and instead, I provided head candies they can wear during the wedding in keeping with the theme--which at the same time served as gifts as well.
Providing head candies, instead of the entourage dresses make for wonderful, unique details for the wedding--and it's something that the girls can definitely keep and use in other events. Hand crafted Bonne head pieces by Bonsai Fojas are truly the perfect fashionable elements for your wedding. Check out the wide range of styles she can do for you. They are wedding themes in itself! So many creative ideas and inspirations from her various collections!
Which style are you most loving right now? :)

| We have come to help you save your wedding! :) http://www.themarysue.com/ |
Here are snippets from her email:
Honestly, at first, my fiance and I were having second thoughts to hold our wedding in Boracay because of financial issues. But a beach wedding has been our dream wedding ever since plus our love story began in Boracay. So the place has a sentimental meaning to us. After canvassing rates in resorts in Boracay, my heart almost fell when we found out that it is way beyond our budget. (We already have 3 kids, so budget wise, we really need to squeeze it). Then 1 evening, while crying out of frustration, I came across your happymonthsary.net blog, I SWEAR YOUR BLOG IS HEAVEN SENT!!! It enlightened me so much, that after reading it, my fiance and I became firm with our decision, that we will hold our wedding in Boracay.....

Bonsai Fojas on her definition of The Rebellious Bride
Bonsai is a darling, a breath of fresh air in the fashion and wedding industry. Her creativity has transcended the vintage-themed weddings where her fascinators first took off. Now, any bride in need of a fabulous & glamorous head candy has Bonne. This mad hatter also creates cloches, pillbox hats, feather headbands, feather clips, brooches, lace cuffs and things that sparkle! She is simply Bonne!
