A Love Stronger Than Any Storm

 "Six months ago, in my happily-wedded bliss, this was what I vowed to my husband. While I may have underestimated the havoc that Yolanda would bring, the rest of it are truer now more than ever. Ranulfo Abellanosa, thank you for everything that you have done in keeping our families safe before, during, and after the typhoon. You are my hero, and our baby's, in these trying times and everyday for the rest of our lives. Thank you for being you... I love you. Please come back soon. (Happy 6th Wedding Monthsary!)"

When news of super typhoon Yolanda broke, my thoughts and prayers immediately went to our former clients, Kathleen & Dingdong. We can only imagine what it really feels like to be a survivor of such a horrific typhoon but they were there in the thick of things. On Facebook, spectators such as us were so keen to comment on practically everything--judging and ranting at every turn. Yet Kathleen & Dingdong, along with the other survivors--the real victims of the typhoon are the ones who have spoken with so much class, love, and maturity. 


 Kathleen & Dingdong are newlyweds. It was even Kathleen's birthday when things turned for the worse. And as if that was not enough, she's pregnant with their first baby. What's surreal is that her vows, written and said 6 months ago talked about thunderstorms. We'd like to share with everyone a copy of Kathleen's wedding vows:

Once upon a time, there lived a brilliant boy who was fascinated with science and technology. While most school boys played with toys, he was already working on transmissions. He was what anyone would call, a "wiz kid". 

Years had passed and he was at the top of his game. As he grew up to become a dashing man who seemed to be destined for even greater things in his land, he felt that something was lacking. This is how our story begins. A man of science, looking for his greatest discovery. In the hopes that he will finally find fulfillment and contentment. In the hopes that he will find a breakthrough.

K+M: A Love Story Prenup Session

It seems to be the most logical prenup idea isn't it? To immortalize how you guys met, and your love story captured in photos? That some people may not be able to read between the lines but you guys know in your heart what the photos represent.

One of our clients from our Wedding Agency service, Dr. Mabeth Rivera and Atty. Karym Laidan had one of the most interesting love stories I've ever known of. Their love story is so interesting that it was the main focal point in both of their vows during the wedding.

PART ONE: The Universe at Work...

"The Perfect Time" - was how Mabeth described how they met, during her vows. Both were from Ateneo. Was introduced once. A casual Hi and Hello, and that was it. Nothing more. Both went on with their lives. One studying cadavers, the other studying cases.

But who would have thought that Starbucks, of all places, could very well be the Serendipity cafe?


 Years, and years had passed and Mabeth found herself alone in Starbucks. Karym on the other hand, was looking for a chair to borrow from another table. He saw Mabeth. He was bad with names. And why would he remember her name of all people? They were only introduced once, and ages ago at that. But for some weird twist of fate, the Universe whispered to him, her name. When Mabeth looked up, her response was: "And you are?" ---all of a sudden, the world around them became a blur, they started chatting away as if they were old friends.

Anti-White Guessing Game

Hello from Boracay! The wedding is 4 hours from now but I couldn't help squeezing in a blog update to share with your all the bride's super duper unique Hindy Weber Tantoco gown. The bride and the designer wanted a colored gown in which the effect would be, you wouldn't really know exactly what the color of the fabrics are. So....can anybody guess? What exactly is/are the color/s of this wonderful rebellious ant-white gown? Prize of which will be, well...just to have the bragging rights of having a keen sense for detail haha.

Rebellious Bride Coie's Lady Gaga 3D Wedding

My head is playing Bad Romance as I write this piece--can't help it! A couple of months ago, we've been sprinkling a few little mentions and some photos of the Lady Gaga Wedding, spread out in different blog features but never a dedicated post on the wedding itself...'till now. 

This wedding is the perfect example of how the bride was still able to bring out a rebellious side of her even if she had to compromise along the way. In fact, this was already a "tamed" version of her Lady Gaga wedding due to strict church rules and in consideration of the oldies.

Interspersed with the photos, is the email we received from Rebellious Bride Coie, aka the Gaga Bride, herself. Read on to know more about her own thoughts on the wedding and watch the wedding video at the end.

An Ode to Being Special

Some say that your wedding is your ONE day to be special. You only get one day. Just one day. So they say get a grip of yourself because it's back to the real world the next day and you are not suppose to act like a bride anymore. 

Sure, you were probably extra special on your big day, but it doesn't mean you are no longer special. Each and every person is special whichever day it is, and you deserve to live happily ever after even under harsh circumstances. 

I look at my former bride friends pursuing their dreams, honeymooning with their husbands every year, basking in motherhood and I think they are all pretty damn special in their own choices and in their own right. You don't just get one day. You deserve to be happy every single day. The wedding, and the wedding planning is just your test. The next day, you are planning an adventure to be a wife, running your own household, researching on parenting skills, creating your baby's first birthday, planning for your first anniversary, getting everyone in the group to bond and hang-out, developing meal plans and perfecting your first signature dish. So bask in your own light. Yes, your wedding day is a day to savor, but there are more special days to come, and it doesn't mean you no longer deserve to feel special.

Rebellious Weddings of 2011

The so-called "Best Weddings of 2011" is just a disguise for "Best CELEBRITY Weddings and Best Weddings w/ High-Profiled Surnames of 2011".  It's like high school all-over again. Sorry. You're just not popular enough to be the Prom King and Queen. And Sorry--you're just not royalty or a Kardashian so we don't think the Pixel Cowboy Wedding featured at Green Wedding Shoes is "best of 2011" material (notice the International references so as not to step on the local scene but we all know that this happens in our country damn too much).

So much like our own Wedding Forecast of 2012 which we made on our own, we're also listing down our own most Rebellious Weddings of 2011. How many weddings have you attended in 2011? Out of all those weddings, how many were creative/unique/rebellious? Our intention here is not to boast or to create a popularity poll. Our intention here is simply to encourage and inspire other brides to take the road less traveled. We've created various categories here as well. In some categories, you'll see past Rebellious Brides we have featured, some ideas from our own weddings as well, and from new Rebellious Brides/Weddings that we are just about to feature--again, the intention is not to boast, but to inspire so you can grab ideas---note however that we don't condone "copycats"---what we would like is for you to get inspired by the ideas so that you can make it your own. Upon the request of the bride, photos of their wedding are not allowed to be publicized, but according to the designer, her bride had a beach wedding, and it was the first time that she was commissioned to do maillot swimsuits for the entourage and the bride! How rebellious, fun, and fearless is that!

In other countries, Boudoir sessions are popular for brides. What it is, is a more sensual and provocative shoot for the bride, which she gives to her groom before the wedding or you know, just to simply keep to remember those days when you still look damn hot. If you are not familiar with Boudoir, google it right now and click on images. Not for the faint of heart.

First of all, Happy New Year to our dear Rebellious Brides! There were so many ways on how I could have written this "New Year" post---some of the things that I randomly thought of were: a recap of the 2011 rebellious wedding trends, or a simple greeting from me and Mica, or one, last rebellious post feature to end the year. But as I reflected on what would mean most, to us--and what meaningful post we can pass on to you, one thing in 2011 really stuck to me the most--and that is, how Mica and I both used the power of the law of attraction, positivity, and vision boards to get to where we want to be right now. In 2009-2010, a bunch of us girls, myself and Mica included, set out a goal to be married before 2012....and true enough, each and every one of those gals ARE married already! And boy was 2011 a big year for both me and Mica....how did we do it? We just tried our darnest to stay positive and fight for what we wanted. Sure, we've had some rough patches along the way but we tried to keep on fighting 'till the end (doesn't that sound like a line from "We are the Champions"? hehe).

So as we close one of the biggest and happiest years of our lives EVER, 2012 looks very bright for the Rebellious Brides...we are now at 120,000 pageviews in just 5 months of launching, and we are ushering in the new year with gigs for our Wedding Agency/Wedding Consultancy services, and our very first collaborations/campaigns about to launch in January of 2012. How awesome is that?!?!

Bridal cars are one of the most awesome ways you can personalize and create a rebellious twist to your weddings.

Gone are the days of the usual carriages, vintage cars, or traditional luxury rides the likes of a Benz or a BMW. Of course there's nothing wrong with these classic choices if that's really your personality--but if you are only doing it for the status quo or because that's what your parents would approve of--then drop it. Drop it now, and drop it gewd. Because baby, there are so many other rebellious and creative rides you can go for.

How about a bridal ride that gives off an "elopement" wedding vibe? Like you were just swept off of your feet and you are riding off to the sunset with your bad boy? =P

Rebellious Fashionista Brides

We love brides who are rebellious enough to make their most special day, their greatest fashion moment ever. What's more, we applaud brides who are rebellious enough to break out of the usual princess bridal gown and instead would go for multiple looks. After all, a rebellious bride creates her own rules. So if she wants to wear more than one bridal ensemble or just one bridal gown that is absolutely unpredictable and totally out of this world, she just simply won't give a damn.
