When we first started this blog some 5 years ago, we took a leap of faith in shouting out to the cyberworld that we are "Rebellious Brides" and we sought out kindred spirits who have the same unconventional ideas as we do. At first, it was difficult and sources were very few. But we kept on going. One of our very first propaganda here in the blog was going for 
"Anti-White Gowns".  And again, back then, there weren't very many examples to feature. 

Fast forward to 2016 and we are so thrilled that we have awesome artists like Quirky Creatives who share the same vision as we do and who share the same beliefs that bridal gowns don't have to be white--nor do they have to be plain. 

Together with Tipping Point Collective, Jacq's Florals Design Studio, and REAL Makeup Artisty, Quirky Creatives collaborated with this rebel team to come up with printed bridal and groom looks that are definitely inspired.

Aiza & AJ's AlDub Inspired Prenup/Save-the-Date


Rebellious Couple Aiza and AJ are getting married next month and they don't have a Save-the-Date session yet. Aiza is a self-confessed fan of Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye/AlDub and she watches it every lunch break with her officemates. So when we suggested this AlDub photo/video shoot session for their Save-the-Date, they were super GAME!

Proof that Batanes Weddings are the BEST



If you are an avid RB reader, you would know by now how much we gush about Batanes as a wedding venue/idea. We even wrote a piece on How To Plan a Cost-Efficient Batanes Wedding which already got picked up by several publications. And ever since we released that article, there have been more and more Batanes Weddings that we see today. However, there is still a lot of stigma around Batanes Weddings that the mere thought of it scares the hell out of engaged couples. Batanes gets a lot of bad press for being "that place with bad weather" and for being "that place that costs so much, it's more expensive to fly there than flying abroad."

9 Couples Who Opted for Quirky Wedding Photos

Everyone has their own quirks. That's because everyone is unique. And when you name your photography team Quirky Creatives, then by law of attraction, you've practically claimed being, well, quirky. For us, that means there are more and more couples showing their real personalities. Being quirky doesn't just have to mean you are weird/kooky/wacky/crazy (but all these are good in our books!), it can also mean you are embracing your imperfections and loving yourselves for who you really are, no pretensions involved. It doesn't have to grand, sometimes, it's not even intentional, all you need are little details or a simple detour from the usual wedding expectations. 

Now, about the people behind Quirky Creatives, the great thing about them is that they don't even try too hard to be different. They're as real as they can get. Seeing them, you already know they are oozing with creativity. Noel Salazar, the owner and head photographer, the Quirky Man himself, is married to Rae Ventura-Salazar, who is a makeup artist and calls her team the Real Makeup Artisty. With their powers combined, they make for a great, comfortable team. With a creative husband and wife on the board your wedding team, you can never really go wrong. Just let the quirk flow!



"We love how we were able to be quirky and spontaneous with the Quirky Creatives team. When we decided that we wanted to have a photo shoot at this Mexican restaurant right after the church ceremony, they gladly obliged! The restaurant staff was surprised to see us in our wedding gown and suit ordering nachos! Turns out, most of our favorite photos were shot there :)"

Julie + VJ's Spanish Colonial-Themed Wedding


VJ, the "Rebellious Groom" is actually a former colleague of mine. And I am not surprised that his wedding is not only creative but also cohesive (where we 'came' from, we jut had to work that way).

But VJ is clearly not the only one with all the big ideas here. Julie is definitely a Rebellious Bride! What with her fabulous, non-white Christine Lam gown, her sensational red hot cascading bouquet (and we all know that cascading bouquets are almost usually white), her fierce and quirky bridal shots, from her impeccable styling choices (the entourage are so well dressed it's so amazing!). She was just killing it! She is obviously comfortable in her own skin and her own choices. And her personality just flawlessly reflected in every aspect of the wedding.

And we love the idea of a Spanish-themed wedding because after all, we were colonized by the Spaniards for more than 300 hundred years and their influences in our culture is so apparent. VJ & Julie's wedding actually gave us this "AHA" moment of realization that this theme could very well be another interpretation of Filipiniana and there's so many ways to go about it. As you will see in Julie & VJ's engagement and wedding photos - this theme can go from bold to classic, from sassy to romantic, from spicy to muted. Julie looks so ravishingly gorgeous in all of the many beautiful looks that REAL Makeup Artistry created for her in both occasions. And VJ looked very dapper as photographed by Quirky Creatives. They are clearly a rebelliously unique couple and it radiated in their wedding!

Classic, Creative, Crazy


Whenever we write our features, we try to be as short and sweet as we possibly can by limiting the photos to just 10-20 max. We feel that a wedding or a prenup can already be encapsulated by just a few selected photos and besides, with the abysmal Internet connections,we wouldn't want our readers to have a hard time looking through a post. But there are very rare times when a wedding set is just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome that we can't help but put more photos. When a feature goes beyond 30 photos, in this case even 40 photos, you know that we had a hard time editing a post. Sometimes, what sets a feature apart from the rest is not because of the wedding being rebellious per se--sometimes it's because the photos...the photography is just THAT special. Joaquin and Abbey's wedding is classic and creative. But what makes it special is the fact that their photographers Quirky Creatives was able to capture the crazy beautiful side of the wedding---the personalities of the bride and groom, the simplicity of the day made into the quirkiest of days.
