Unmasked

Dabid and AJ unmasks in their pandemic prenup shoot and we are digging it.

In a world where canceled weddings are normalized, romance is almost dead, intimacy is on-hold, they show us where you can find love in the "un-cheesiest" of ways, appreciating the little things. It's in the way they help each other walk on muddy grounds. It's in the way Dabid helps AJ tie her shoe laces. It's in the way that they can test their relationship, camping with nothing but nature.

Photographer team, NEVERTHELESS shares:

They say that “Difficult roads often lead to a beautiful destination”.

From a few hours of travel and off-road motorcycle ride away from the city, An astonishing location can be found in the valleys of Pioduran town in Albay province, Philippines.

Being outgoing, spontaneous and adventurous in a way, were the types of couples we have here. The usual typical prenup concept where in outfits like gown, coat and tie are being worn were not usually their thing. The idea was to showcase their love for travel together, to wander in new places away from the busy city life, and to experience simple life with nature. The couple find these kinds of activities very stress relieving and renewed not just a couple but as an individual. Despite the gloomy weather, the threat of the rain looms over the clouds just in time for Dabid and Aj Engagement shoot... The colorful moody tones, lights, frames, grains and even out of focus images transcend on their limitless idea of art. The couple is a good example that no matter what the weather is, even if the plan “A” doesn’t work, there’s always a perfect timing and perfect place for a perfect feeling of love. "IKA SANA" title from the video means "Only you" in Bicol dialect.

Post-Apocalyptic Love

"...when you think about it, it's quite romantic how love could survive on a hostile post apocalyptic world. That is, we chose to love each other at a time when the world was ending. And that for us was romantic."

-- Rebel Couple, Kid & Raf

Bonnie and Clyde

Two bankers in love and about to do a heist. Well that's Al & Rose's Bonnie and Clyde alter ego. Yes they really are bankers in real life. And for their engagement shoot, they wanted to be naughty by maybe  doing that one thing that is most likely not in the banker's code of ethics (assuming there is one).

Because let's face it...we have all fantasized about breaking those damn rules once in a while, haven't we? ;)

Proof that Philippine Engagement Sessions are Uber Creative

There are engagement sessions, and then there's Philippine-made engagement sessions.

You only need to Google "engagement photos" to see what  conventional engagement photos look like. Basically you'll get prom-like lovey dovey, cheesy photos that are set in gardens and other natural scenery. Worse, some photos are not even of good quality. And while there's completely nothing wrong with those types of engagement photos, you really have to hand it to Philippine wedding artists (and couples) for daring to push the envelope.  Because if you haven't known this already, Philippine-made engagement photos/concepts are outstandingly innovative, compelling, and can even be unnerving at times.

Over the past six years, we've seen how engagement photos have evolved. And we understand why most Filipinos not only would want to have an engagement session, but would be compelled to make it big, bold, and beautiful. On the part of the couples, the allure of a crazy prenup might stem from the fact that Philippine Weddings are traditional, strict, and conventional--oftentimes dictated by parents.  And so an outrageous engagement session gives the couples a chance to kind of have fun and show their rebellious side. It balances things out, so to speak. On the other side of the spectrum, wedding artists like to do these creative sessions because it helps them to build a relationship with their couples before the wedding and at the same time, it keeps their creative juices running full as it can often get drained by the weekly repetitive grind of covering church weddings.

Here we have 20 engagement sessions that show you just how "Out of this World" engagement shoot concepts in the Philippines can get.  Sometimes the ideas come from the couples themselves to reflect their personalities or to reflect their love story. And on the other times the e-session ideas are proposed by the wedding team themselves to fulfill a creative fantasy project. Seriously 20 examples are not even enough! And just a disclaimer, this is not a contest or a ranking of the top e-sessions out there. Instead, this is a collective appreciation of how  Philippine wedding artists and couples have creatively grown through the years. So here they are. Which one is your favorite?

Golden Hour

I'll let you in on a secret. Personally the hardest part about blogging for me, is creating a title for a post. I dread it because I hate corny wedding blog titles and I want titles to be as simple as possible. I look at Jamie and Derrick's engagement set and I'm initially stumped. How do you create a Blog Title for something this intense?

Superstars

Here's proof that there is more to life than cheesy engagement photos set against a park, having a picnic, and posing like it's your prom. And at the other side of the spectrum, here's also proof that you don't need to go over-the-top with a big production number just to make your engagement photos cool.

Australia-based couple Deer and Robbie, together with their Bangkok-based photographer Sanit show us how it's done.

Armed with their his and hers Adidas Superstars, the fun couple flew from "Down Under" to Bangkok to celebrate their love. A love that is out to prove that "Size doesn't matter."

Love Play: Rebellious Brides X MangoRed

To those who have been with us since the blog's infancy stage, you would probably recognize these photos from a special daily countdown that we did for Rebellious Bride Mica's wedding day.

In a lot of ways you could say that this was technically our very first collaboration shoot for Rebellious Brides. And yet this is the first time we are releasing these uber rebellious layouts for everybody to enjoy.

This collab shoot was made possible by no less than the ultimate rebel gang MangoRed who simply told RB Mica, "Let's Shoot!"

To which Mica replied, "GAME!"

They say that such concepts are too trendy and will not look timeless in the long run. It's funny though but this shoot was like 4 years ago and it still remains relevant and current in 2015. And as RB Mica would say, as a couple they didn't aim for timeless. Rather they aimed for a time capsule - a screen capture of how she and her husband Marc were like during their engagement & wedding.  And so we hope these ideas will inspire you to just enjoy your preps. Don't over think the wedding, Just PLAY. Because the most candid, unadulterated, organic moments are the most fun to capture and remember.

Safari Fantasy

The amount of passion and ingenuity that went on in this shoot is undeniably remarkable. Especially when you find out that the couple wanted to do a Safari-inspired prenup shoot in a place that didn't even have this vibe. Wait what??? Yes, you read that correctly. The couple wanted a Safari prenup and the photography & styling team made it happen magically in a place that couldn't have been farther from being Safari-friendly.
