Skater Wedding


Tagaytay is definitely one of, if not the most popular wedding destination in the Philippines. And it's always exciting to discover how Tagaytay Brides would conceptualize their respective weddings differently. We've seen medieval/fantasy weddings, Alice in Wonderland weddings, classic shabby chic/rustic garden weddings, Coachella weddings, just to name a few.

But what we are featuring today is so refreshing as it can be--because it's a Skater Wedding! Tonet and Yus are both passionate about skateboarding and thought that it would be a cool idea to incorporate this on their wedding day. It's definitely not your typical soft and feminine theme at all. And when we say Skater Wedding, as in this is next level complete with a skateboard ramp during the reception!

Chocolate, Strawberries, and Champagne

To some extent, you can say that Niña is the honorary co-founder of Rebellious Brides because it was actually her idea for me and Mica to start a blog out of "Rebellious Brides" some 4 years ago.

And not only that, she and her husband Mikki made a lot of firsts in the wedding scene even before Mica and I got engaged and got married to our husbands ourselves. They were the firsts to have a creative wedding in our group of friends, they were one of the first real-life couples to have been picked by Wedding Essentials to be on their cover,  and they were one of the firsts to be featured by Bridal Book as well.

Niña and Mikki's Chocolate, Strawberries, and Champagne wedding is the definitive proof that elegance and rebelliousness can co-exist in a seamless way. While their wedding respected a lot of traditions, they planned it with a lot of twists.

First of all, they did their wedding their way--no influences from friends and family. Secondly, the look and feel of their wedding were also quite unique. They used more than the usual wedding combinations opting for mixes of browns, reds, whites, and lace instead. The bride, while wearing a white gown opted for a more structured but feminine style--a "White w/ a Twist" creation by Ivarluski Aseron who is more known as a fashion/artistic designer rather than a bridal designer.  Food was also one of the main focal points of the theme--with overflowing desserts, cocktails, mouthwatering dishes, and finished off with a chocolate tower instead of a wedding cake adding to the organic essence of the entire celebration.

Third, the wedding was also a musical feast with the bride entering the church to the song "Kissing" by Bliss (not your usual bridal entrance song), Spanish guitars, transcending to sounds of house music as DJ-ed by the bride's Maid-of-Honor for the after party.

Niña and Mikki's wedding was such a bespoke, very personal, and memorable day. Truly one for the books--and already rebellious even before we invented that term.

Jia's Bridal Style - Rockstud Chic


We love Jia's bridal style--she's classy and sophisticated yet with an obvious hint of a rebel spirit. Her pearl-colored romantic gown, her hair down in a side swept style, her statement earrings, embellished bouquet, and Valentino Rockstud pumps are all so dreamy!  A couple of months ago, we were wondering why we haven't seen any brides wearing rebellious fabulous shoes like the Valentino Rockstud or the YSL Tribute (CLICK HERE FOR RELATED ARTICLE) and finally, we have a Rockstud Bride today! Woopee!

Rebellious Bride/Photographer Ruffa

The Ruffa and Mike Team with Pol Tiglao

"Mike loved taking photographs back when he was young and pursued it after graduating college. We took baby steps; learning every trick we needed to add art to our photographs. There was room for improvement daily. I can really feel the passion just yearning for so much more in him. Then, not for long, we established our own photography business. We started with prenuptial shoots and pre debuts. Finally, we then decided to be wedding photographers.
 Who wouldn't and couldn't agree that weddings and magic are completely inseparable? That feeling you get when the bridal song starts to echo around the church, then you see the bride walking down the aisle, towards her awaiting groom at the altar's end. These emotions are what captured us the most. Flawless and real. Things we learned to appreciate deeply back when we were both in the college theatre, where we met." -- Rebellious Bride Ruffa

Ruffa's walk down the aisle is probably one of the most wonderful scenes I have seen yet. Mike eagerly awaits his bride's entrance--and when Ruffa does emerge from the doors, he kneels down to take photos of his beautiful bride. It was a testament to their relationship, their journey, encapsulated in this one moment that defined their wedding.

Paolo & Abby's Quirky Wedding

We can never stress enough on the importance of fitting the right photographer with a wedding's personality. Time and time again we see couples going to wedding expos and booking a supplier that can give the best deal--then come wedding day, expectations are not up to par with the final product. It's nobody's fault, really. All suppliers/artists have their own talent in their own right. But sometimes, this talent is not maximized for the simple reason that one's talent must perfectly blend with the couple's taste, and the wedding's vibe. And when the photographer's personality fits oh so amazingly well with the couples, then BOOM! You have a match made in heaven. Quirky Wedding? Then you get a quirky photographer. And no one can do quirky like Noel Salazar.

The Rebellious Family Wedding

When MangoRed flags us on their latest wedding photo set, we know it's always the perfect fit for RB---even if we haven't seen it yet. And once we do, it excites us like two little crazy kiddos haha! That's just how much we trust the gang to give us something we can sink our teeth into.

Klassy & Eric - A Teaser

A couple of months ago, we posted Random Rebellion #12 which featured tweet tips from supahstah coordinator Teena Barretto. She was so excited to share Klassy & Eric's wedding that she was actually updating us while she was working on the wedding (now that's multitasking!) -- not to be outdone, videographer god Jason Magbanua was also tweeting us photos from this wedding! Do you guys know why? Well...this has got to be one of the most "Kate Spade-y" weddings of all time --among other quirky and drool-worthy rebellious details. We are too excited to feature this wedding already that we can't wait much longer! Here is Jason Magbanua's video of the wedding. Tagaytay is a lovely place to have a wedding, don't you agree? The fresh, cool breeze, the scenic view, the food, and the rustic vibe are just some of the things that make Tagaytay oh so romantic.

Are you considering having a Tagaytay wedding? If you are, I'd like to suggest a Rebellious way on how to do your wedding. A wedding idea, that has never been done before, and I think a new Tagaytay experience that you and your guests will enjoy.
