Bride Idea: MangoRandall X Burma

Photography by MangoRandall of MangoRed

Let's quiet down for a moment and think of non-wedding stuff for a second, shall we? It's been awhile since we last did a "Bride Idea for Today" post but it's always calming and creatively thrilling to do so. Here in Rebellious Brides, we always encourage our readers to look beyond the obvious wedding inspirations. And if you have been a regular reader for ages, you'd be familiar with non-wedding stuff we've featured before like the full-year Kate Spade mood boards we did in 2012,  The Moca Museum, The Little Folk, and the Cornetto Cupidity Campaign to name a few.

It's kinda like the inspiration/creative challenge they used to always do at Project Runway--remember that? When they'd ask contestants to go around NY, take photos of what inspires them, then the designers end up translating it into their own creation. RB Mica and I did that too when we were still doing our wedding preps--most of our inspirations came from non-wedding references. Even for this blog--we actually don't monitor what other wedding sites and wedding magazines are doing. Once in a while we'd check Green Wedding Shoes, but that's just about it.  Try to look at the world around you, the less obvious, the better. So we challenge you to resist the urge to look at wedding stuff for a second (yes, even our blog if you must!), and just go out there and FEEL other types of inspirations come to you. That's how you become creative. That's how you become original, and that's how you find your own person...your own "brand equity."

And to start off that kind of creative vibe, here's a look at uber rebel MangoRandall's travel photos from Burma. Same Mango kick-ass photos, but no bride and groom in sight. His photos are oozing with so much inspirations and for some reason it's making my twisted brain imagine an exotic and romantic wedding theme! Enjoy :)

Biyahe ni Drew at Iya

There's nothing quite like a
Jason Magbanua x MangoRed
tandem wedding *wink*

And there's nothing quite like the love of Iya and Drew either.

They are literally the living proof that network wars can and need to be defied. That more beauty, creativity, and rebelliousness can come out of a union this amazing.

What a way to start the morning. Jason is at it again. My heart is skipping in so many beats. The prenup...the wedding. Oh that cliff hangin', heart thumpin' ceremony venue!!!

And watch the cool prenup here:
(epitome of cool so there's really no truer adjective to describe it!)

Iya & Drew

Wedding aficionados and showbiz fans are definitely on a stand still as MangoRed, Jason Magbanua, and RabbitHole Creatives have been teasing us with Iya & Drew goodness over the weekend. All roads will definitely lead to MangoRed's website as they've announced that official prenup photos are gonna be up anytime soon. There's early indications that the wedding was quite rebellious--from the rebel bride's fierce Pepsi Herrera gown, to the cliff hanging ceremony, and down to the amazing styling.

PS. I love the reference to Drew's GMA News TV show as MangoRed entitled the teaser prenup: "Biyahe ni Drew & Iya" ;)

Cathy & Jonard's "Anti-Reception" Wedding

Photography by We Do It For Love

One of the blog's most famous posts and probably one of our most famous "rebellious thoughts" is the concept of not having the usual reception expected of a wedding. We call this, the "Anti-Reception." But while we do know that this idea is quite popular among our readers, and we even get personal emails that discuss this idea further, we rarely see actual photo sets that would kind of give us an indication that there are real rebellious brides out there who have materialized an anti-reception wedding. So when we saw this set from We Do It For Love, we were more than excited! Not only is this wedding a real anti-reception wedding in the flesh, it was also done in Casa Roces! The venue we featured in our Gatsby series! Woot!  We are super excited to share this feature. May this prove that anti-reception weddings are just as beautiful and just as memorable!

PS. Check out the couple's rebellious wedding bands! So unique!

The Wedding Agency: Home "Chic" Home

Our clients Carol and Gino live in the U.S. and they wanted to finally tie the knot in their homeland -- the Philippines. And what better way to celebrate than tie a home-y feel with some Pinoy elements. We were so giddy to do their walkthrough as we really had several ideas on how to execute their wedding/homecoming. And being the first supplier that they booked, we were more than flattered to be part of the planning process. All presentations were done through Skype and consultancies through e-mail. But gladly, everything turned out well and it was definitely one homey and happy intimate wedding. You have got to see the video from their wedding because it's super charming! Love how the Groom couldn't get himself together and kept crying. Also, he was the one who made the bouquet for the Bride. And the DIY paper bouquet looked EXQUISITE!

Anyway, here are excepts from their walkthrough:

Leean & Jonathan's DIY Save the Date Video

When Leean submitted to us their DIY video saying that there were no videographers and editors who worked on their video, with no assistance even from friends whatsoever, we had our doubts to be honest. In our minds we were thinking, "uh-oh...what is this going to look like?"-- But we were quite pleasantly surprised at how cute their video turned out to be. And not just cute...it was well made! Leean and Jonathan definitely had the eye for this! You guys might want to make it into a little business haha.

Leean shares:

Public Service Announcement: Beware of @peach7474

We don't normally do this but this is getting out of hand. Some @peach7474 is posing as RB Mica. Not only is she using Mica's photos, she's also including private photos that includes Mica's loved ones! And to makes matters even more annoying, this pathetic low-life is even posting her own opinions on various matters while using Mica's photo as her profile pic. See this is what makes the web quite a dilemma and a double edged sword. On one hand you want to connect with other people--to share with your friends, loved ones, and connect with potential business-related leads. On the other hand though, it makes you more vulnerable to identity theft. Can you spell C A T F I S H?

Be careful RBs...and if it's possible to help us out, please help us hunt this crazy person down and have her profile taken down as well.

Beware of this very sick person! This is NOT RB Mica and she's posing as RB Mica.
