We Can Be Heroes


A Rebellious Bride who allowed for her groom to wear a Batman mask on their wedding day is a bride we would definitely want to hang out with. Paloma is one such bride and more. The bride wore two wedding gowns on her wedding in Madrid, Spain.  One of the gowns was her grandma's vintage nightdress deconstructed with satin and lace. And the other she handcrafted along with her friends from Spanish brand Suma Cruz. The boys from the wedding party were allowed to wear Spiderman outfits  -- and let me tell you, there's nothing more a little boy would want to do during a grown-up party. This wedding was full of love, life, and laughter in the most effortless way possible.

It's always heroic when two people have the courage to get married--but it takes super heroes to make the wedding rebellious.

Of Shoes, Love, and Calligraphy

 

 There's something so deeply personal and thoughtful when a wedding is peppered with the couple's little notes and doodles. From the bride's bouquet handle, to the invitation, and even on the bridesmaids' shoes, there were calligraphy notes waiting to be read and discovered at every turn during Sheila and Bryan's wonderful wedding. The impact was so lovingly intimate...but in a very chic and sophisticated way.

Our wedding is a balance of masculinity and femininity. Details were made to be clean and elegant with a hint of black to make it masculine. It' not all about my dream wedding. We made sure that we considered each other's ideas. Almost all of the details were DIY to make it more personal. And of course the most important detail of our wedding, the Shoesssss! I made sure that my bridesmaids, flower girl, my groom and I will be "Sheilafied!"  My bridal shoes was semi-avant garde with intricate hand-sewn beading and sculptural wooden heels.

Our wedding was 70% shoes and 30% love. Just kidding! My dream to become a shoe designer 5 years ago has been a way to find my forever. It was destined not just to fulfill my dream but love knocked me off my feet too. Indeed, One shoe can change your life.

Wedding Idea: Little Prince + Vintage French


If you are a bride who can multi-task wedding preps with work, if you are the kind of bride that gets excited to research every blog, every magazine, every wedding expo, and every wedding forum and take note of everything on your Pinterest board, good for you. But some brides don't have the time to do all of these things. 

And that's why it gives us great joy to conceptualize and create thoughtful "wedding bibles" for our Wedding Agency clients who are finding it hard to streamline the ideas for their dream wedding . They might not look much to some people but our wedding bibles are meticulously created to ensure that each slide leads to a carefully edited cohesive story. They are like vision boards of what our clients want for their big day--making it easier to articulate what they want (and what they don't want) to happen at the wedding. 

One of our favorite concepts that we created for one of our brides is this French vintage theme. She knew from the very beginning that she wanted a French vintage wedding but she wanted it to be unique. We were ultimately inspired by the French word "Je t'aime" (I Love You), The Little Prince, and delicious French breads when we created this for her. And we are sharing some of the boards from her wedding bible today to inspire everyone on how to to apply new ideas to an otherwise popular theme.

Rebellious Wedding Crashers

Ladies and gentlemen, brides and grooms, THIS is how you crash a wedding party. Thank you, Maroon 5. You've just made wedding crashing an awesome reception idea. So why not surprise you spouse with their favorite band and sign them up to do it gate crash style. You can even pretend you don't know a single thing about the event and just be as shocked! Haha! Do it for the love of irreverence and sheer craziness and mostly because flash mobs are so 2011!

The 35-year-old Maroon 5 frontman, who married model Behati Prinsloo in July, decided to spice up other couples' big days by crashing weddings all over Los Angeles on Dec. 6.
The result is the video for the band's hit song "Sugar," off their 2014 album "V."
"David Dobkin, who is an awesome director and a really dear, dear friend, decided to revisit the concept of obviously the original 'Wedding Crashers,'" Levine told Access Hollywood last month. "The only difference being we actually crashed weddings this time!"
"[We] literally showed up and played songs for these guys. They were surprised," he added.
Surprised is just the beginning. Check out the video above to see just how thrilled the couples were.

Wedding Idea: 'Round the World in 1 Day

So what if a lot of couples have done a travel theme? There are just so many ideas you can flesh out from such a concept. You don't have to execute it like every one else (Or make it a hodgepodge of ideas from your Pinterest addiction). All you have to do is make it more personalised, more YOU as a couple, then the world IS your oyster when it comes to wedding ideas. Now, the photos below were done by event stylist Teddy Manuel for a client's 80th birthday but can easily be a great concept for a couple who has indeed travelled the world. It would be awesome to share your experiences with your guests on your big day.

Can you just imagine the photo opportunity riot? I can.

Wedding Agency: Office Romance Brunch Wedding

TJ & Ralph were one of our most memorable couples because they were 'challenging'. Challenging in the sense that they pushed us to go out of our comfort zones. Doing this Wedding Agency service for 3 years, we realize that most clients hire us to conceptualize for their weddings but they still go for the more "tamed" ideas that we have, and that's perfectly fine! But having learned that from now, when we worked on TJ & Ralph's wedding ideas, we thought that just like some of our previous couples, they would want us to play on the safe side. But boy we were wrong. They candidly pointed out to us that they wanted more adventurous ideas. So RB Mica threw out a crazy idea to come out with an "Office Romance" theme--which celebrated the love story of the couple that they indeed fell in love in the office. It was a tricky idea because some couples are even shy to admit this. But long and behold this was the concept that the couple loved. And for that we truly admire how rebellious they are to celebrate this otherwise taboo concept. What's even more refreshing was how dead set the couple was to have a brunch wedding. So while we wait for the submission of their official photos, we'd love to share with you some of the boards we created for them from their walkthrough!

SIDENOTE: The wedding budget was to be less than P300k. And we met that budget based on this concept and our proposed suppliers! :)

Bride Idea: MangoRandall X Burma

Let's quiet down for a moment and think of non-wedding stuff for a second, shall we? It's been awhile since we last did a "Bride Idea for Today" post but it's always calming and creatively thrilling to do so. Here in Rebellious Brides, we always encourage our readers to look beyond the obvious wedding inspirations. And if you have been a regular reader for ages, you'd be familiar with non-wedding stuff we've featured before like the full-year Kate Spade mood boards we did in 2012,  The Moca Museum, The Little Folk, and the Cornetto Cupidity Campaign to name a few. 

 It's kinda like the inspiration/creative challenge they used to always do at Project Runway--remember that? When they'd ask contestants to go around NY, take photos of what inspires them, then the designers end up translating it into their own creation. RB Mica and I did that too when we were still doing our wedding preps--most of our inspirations came from non-wedding references. Even for this blog--we actually don't monitor what other wedding sites and wedding magazines are doing. Once in a while we'd check Green Wedding Shoes, but that's just about it.  Try to look at the world around you, the less obvious, the better. So we challenge you to resist the urge to look at wedding stuff for a second (yes, even our blog if you must!), and just go out there and FEEL other types of inspirations come to you. That's how you become creative. That's how you become original, and that's how you find your own person...your own "brand equity."

 And to start off that kind of creative vibe, here's a look at uber rebel MangoRandall's travel photos from Burma. Same Mango kick-ass photos, but no bride and groom in sight. His photos are oozing with so much inspirations and for some reason it's making my twisted brain imagine an exotic and romantic wedding theme! Enjoy :)
