Proof that Philippine Engagement Sessions are Uber Creative
There are engagement sessions, and then there's Philippine-made engagement sessions.

You only need to Google "engagement photos" to see what conventional engagement photos look like. Basically you'll get prom-like lovey dovey, cheesy photos that are set in gardens and other natural scenery. Worse, some photos are not even of good quality. And while there's completely nothing wrong with those types of engagement photos, you really have to hand it to Philippine wedding artists (and couples) for daring to push the envelope. Because if you haven't known this already, Philippine-made engagement photos/concepts are outstandingly innovative, compelling, and can even be unnerving at times.
Over the past six years, we've seen how engagement photos have evolved. And we understand why most Filipinos not only would want to have an engagement session, but would be compelled to make it big, bold, and beautiful. On the part of the couples, the allure of a crazy prenup might stem from the fact that Philippine Weddings are traditional, strict, and conventional--oftentimes dictated by parents. And so an outrageous engagement session gives the couples a chance to kind of have fun and show their rebellious side. It balances things out, so to speak. On the other side of the spectrum, wedding artists like to do these creative sessions because it helps them to build a relationship with their couples before the wedding and at the same time, it keeps their creative juices running full as it can often get drained by the weekly repetitive grind of covering church weddings.
Here we have 20 engagement sessions that show you just how "Out of this World" engagement shoot concepts in the Philippines can get. Sometimes the ideas come from the couples themselves to reflect their personalities or to reflect their love story. And on the other times the e-session ideas are proposed by the wedding team themselves to fulfill a creative fantasy project. Seriously 20 examples are not even enough! And just a disclaimer, this is not a contest or a ranking of the top e-sessions out there. Instead, this is a collective appreciation of how Philippine wedding artists and couples have creatively grown through the years. So here they are. Which one is your favorite?

Ian & Shy's Intimate Batanes Wedding
It was the perfect culmination of their love story. Because in a lot of ways, Batanes which was the venue for Ian and Shy's wedding, symbolized their journey. Batanes is one of the most beautiful, but most difficult destinations to have a wedding. Insanely expensive airfares, erratic weather, and low inventory of accommodations make it an elusive travel choice. But it is one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines (and perhaps in the world) and that it why it is often in people's bucket lists. Indeed, once you have set foot in Batanes, there's a sense of accomplishment, a "high" you just cannot explain.

Love, Colors, and Culture - A Rebellious Secret Wedding
It is always so wonderful and interesting to know how each and every culture celebrates weddings. It is a testament to the fact that there are so many ways to formalize and create a wedding - and that doing it in the church, wearing a white dress is definitely NOT the rule of thumb for everybody else in the world.
Into the Woods Wedding Fantasy Editorial
Once upon a time, we had a wish. We wished for our dreams to come true, for the magic of our minds to turn pixie dusts into butterflies. Now that Rebellious Brides has been here for almost four years, we are proud to give you yet another twist on a very classic tale. Because this is what we do. We are weavers of threads that make up wishes and dreams. We truly believe that Cinderella can choose to have a different happily ever after. And this is her story.
The Rebellious Ella.
The Rebellion Hits 2 Million
RB MICA:
This blog of ours is grounded on love. It all started because we found the love of our lives and it (the blog) saw us through a lot of milestones and (mis) adventures in a span of four years. It started because we had an insane amount of passion for weddings. It started because we simply love to be there for brides who were like us. The unlikely princesses who refuse to wear the glass slippers and wear Melissa shoes instead. We are surviving, breathing, because of love. And we send it all back to all you, all 2 million views. Love and good vibes and gratitude for keeping the love alive for Rebellious Brides.
Welcome to the Wicked World of Rebellious Brides
Hello rebels--old and new! Have you noticed anything new lately? *wink* *wink*
The blog just had a face lift!!!! Hooray! A bit long overdue, don't you agree?
Wedding Agency: JP & Bonsai's Retro Brunch Wedding
This wedding is close to my heart because I was witness to Bonsai and JP's love story from the very beginning. You see, the bride used to be my roommate! And ever since Bonne handmade and The Makeup of Mica started, we have done numerous collaboration shoots. \We even call ourselves partners-in-crime :)
Naturally, creating a Wedding Agency walkthrough for my dear friend Bonsai Fojas was super exciting. Here are some slides from our presentation and the actual implementation seen in the beautiful photos as captured by We Do It For Love
Oh and you can backtrack on their prenup feature here:
Mycel + Aga's Bohemian Dreams Prenup
Photography by We Do It For Love
I just love it when Rebellious Brides AND Grooms write perfect submissions. Honestly, it makes our jobs that much easier haha! Sifting through submissions can be quite tough, especially since RB Mica and I have stressful day jobs. So thank you so much to Rebel Boho Bride Mycel for taking the time and effort to lovingly pen her own feature.
Freedom. Beauty. Truth. Love. The four doctrines/pillars that Bohemians uphold. Same pillars that I do pray for when I'm at the temple as well. I do believe I am a boho at heart. And that's why I enjoyed Mycel and Aga's submission. I hope you'll enjoy it too.

Wedding Agency: Bons & JP's Prenup Teaser
We're always extra excited when our client comes from the Rebellious Bunch! We helped out Bonsai Fojas, owner of Bonne Headcandy, by streamlining her wedding concept. And as she is a copywriter by day and loves all things "lola chic" (that's grandma chic), Mad Men was the perfect theme!
So for her prenup, we came up with the idea of re-enacting vintage ads from the 50s/60s. Very Mad Men, indeed! But we do love how how their personalities popped out in the photos. You see, Rebels, you can always make your engagement shoot more interesting if you just go beyond simply imitating and injecting a twist of your unique personalities.
In Bonsai and JP's retro ad, the chef does everything but cook! (And it really is JP who mostly cooks). LOVE the role reversal and how her fiance JP didn't take any of this seriously. The dash of comedy added to the prenup recipe was just fantastic. That is what we mean by taking pegs a notch further. Inspiration NOT Imitation.
Kudos to We Do It For Love Photography for their awesome work and for always having the
fastest teaser release EVER! Haha! We love it!

Pia + Shuni's Shabby Chic & Mask Fair Wedding
Photography by We Do It For Love
As I was looking through Pia and Shuni's wedding photos, I was immediately taken and impressed by how unique their wedding details were. They actually call their theme shabby chic--but as you will see in this feature, they managed to create such an uncommon interpretation to an otherwise common theme. The wedding felt fun, playful, whimsical, magical, imaginative, and nostalgic as if it were a children's book made to come alive. At the same time, the couple made the whole wedding festivities feel like a private mask fair with many interactive ideas and decorations. Just goes to show that there's still MORE to shabby chic than meets the eye and it's so much fun to create your own wedding rules!
Pia & Shuni definitely knew how to curate and edit old ideas from new ones and the result of which is a wedding that we've never seen before! This is definitely one of the most charming rebellious weddings we've seen so far this year :)
Rebellious Bride Haidee's Bridal Style
Photography by We Do It For Love
We are lovin' Rebellious Bride Haidee's Boy Kastner Santos anti-white bridal gown! And wait 'till you see the back! You know that a gown has attitude when you can look at it from any angle and it's stirring up so many rebellious emotions inside of you. This look is so inspired. So refreshing. So charming. Equally charming is how the bride put the entire look together. And not everyone could have pulled off the shoes that Haidee paired it with. But with the tasteful eye of We Do It For Love, combined with the bride's effortless chicness, somehow it all worked out fantastically! Here's more!
Love, Camera, Action! A Rebellious Prenup
