We've never really been the type to shy away from color.  Even if it's the slightest hint of nude that's just quietly peaking through,  it will always excite us more than just an all-white bridal gown. There's just something about it that feels raw, real, and effortlessly chic.

Tadashi Shoji

I've just realized that I haven't actually written a blog tribute to one of my most favorite international designers, Tadashi Shoji. I love him because he makes curvy women like me feel beautiful. I have two of his gowns and both make me feel like Juliet Capulet. I also love him because his creations are quite unique, and always with a hint of twist on classic styles. And most of all? His creations are soooooooo unbelievably and thoughtfully affordable (check out my pricing guide for bridal gowns below).

Here are some of my favorites from his Spring 2015 collection:

Rebellious Bride Pat Wears Ivory & White

Photography by Nicolai Melicor

Whenever we get a chance to talk to real-life brides, we encounter rebellious ones who really don't want to spend that much on their gowns. Some are even bold enough to toy with the idea of just borrowing someone else's gown--and it's just that their fiancees or their parents are actually the ones who won't allow it in the fears of being judged as not having enough to provide for the bride.

We've blogged about Ivory & White several times already but this is the first time that we'll probably be featuring a real-life bride who was rebellious enough to wear one.

Rebellious Bride Pat is the perfect example that taste is quite relative. You can spend all your money on the most expensive couture gown but look gaudy if you don't have a certain level of taste VS someone like Pat who obviously has the eye for style that she doesn't need a pricey gown to prove it. The way she subtlety transformed the vibe of her gown with those pretty bouquet and wreath, and then you have that chunky Sapphire engagement ring and boom! There's no other word for it but 'cool'.

Veejay Floresca's RTO

"Albay" - Madore Collection / Veejay Floresca

I have three ultimate favorite Filipino bridal designers, one of which is Veejay Floresca! And not just as a designer but also as a humble superstar human being! I will never forget a conversation I had with a videographer and a photographer in one of the weddings I attended--they said that they are always around beautiful gowns, even Vera Wang gowns--but when it comes to perfectly fitted gowns, nothing comes close to Veejay's gowns.  And I love his whole concept of "Ready-to-Order"--I know this is yet again a super delayed post (yikes!) --but who cares as long as we get to spread the word and promote the fab talents we love, right? Here are some of our rebellious favorites from Veejay's Madore RTO collection!

Good news for all our dear rebellious readers out there!

How many times have you had a conversation with friends & family asking you who your wedding gown designer is? And when you tell them that you'd rather just buy a gown, you see eyes and faces trying to keep a straight face for you but you know that they have a nasty thought they'd rather not tell you.

For some reason, buying off-the-rack wedding gowns seem to imply a lot of things--it's not of the same quality, it's gaudy, and it's just not that special as having one especially made for you. BUT WHO CARES?!?!? Bridal gowns come in all shapes, kinds, sizes, and brands. What's important is you are comfortable with what you are wearing and it makes you feel damn beautiful.

But sometimes, even off-the-rack gowns can get really expensive! So when Ivory & White emailed us about their very affordable yet oh so pretty bridal gowns, we knew we had to share this good news to our readers!
