Rebellious Bride Debbie's Street Style

I am loving the idea of transforming a bridal look into something street and urban. That's definitely something you don't see everyday.

We see many, many wedding pictorials attempting to look rebellious just by taking the photo shoot out on the streets. And in the interest of keeping things fresh and new here in the blog, we rarely feature this kind of concept anymore. But Debbie's photo set made it to the blog because she owned it and she expressed her street style sense--wouldn't it be refreshing to have an entire fashion blog dedicated to brides taking their gowns to the street and making it 'pop?' Now that's a million dollar idea right there!!!

Wedding Agency: Rosette + Oli = Ethan's Splish Splash Wedding

I can still remember our client briefing with Rosette, Oli, and their son Ethan like it was just yesterday. In truth, it's been almost 3 years ago. 

Our inspiration when we think of ideas for our clients can come from anywhere. In Rosette & Oli's case, our inspiration came from Ethan himself. 

Rosette & Oli's wedding was to be a beach wedding in the city. Out of the three concepts that we initially proposed to them, there was one that immediately resonated with them so well--not because it was full of creative ideas but because it revolved around being a family. 

True enough, when I saw their official wedding photos for the very first time, I honestly didn't even care about the creative details. What got me emotional and almost teary-eyed was the most priceless wedding element of them all---Ethan, and his relationship with his mom and dad.

Cathy & Jonard's "Anti-Reception" Wedding

One of the blog's most famous posts and probably one of our most famous "rebellious thoughts" is the concept of not having the usual reception expected of a wedding. We call this, the "Anti-Reception." But while we do know that this idea is quite popular among our readers, and we even get personal emails that discuss this idea further, we rarely see actual photo sets that would kind of give us an indication that there are real rebellious brides out there who have materialized an anti-reception wedding. So when we saw this set from We Do It For Love, we were more than excited! Not only is this wedding a real anti-reception wedding in the flesh, it was also done in Casa Roces! The venue we featured in our Gatsby series! Woot!  We are super excited to share this feature. May this prove that anti-reception weddings are just as beautiful and just as memorable!

All You Need is Love and...Boracay

It's no secret that I love Boracay weddings. But what I love even more are Rebellious Boracay Brides. No two Bora wedding is alike. Despite the fact that it's pretty much the same island and often times the same rockstar talents, each wedding comes out with a different vibe. But of course there are still certain Boracay weddings that kind of stand out for me--and those are the ones that are perfectly photographed and perfectly executed with simple but significant elements. A Rebellious Boracay Bride is someone who knows how to bring out the best of what the island can offer. After all, the beach is your backdrop, what else is there to do but just add significant touches of your own? 


I've seen sooooo many Boracay weddings. So I naturally love the ones that are going against the templates. Take for example Nick & Sheeva's Boracay wedding. Beautiful calligraphy, Asya as their backdrop, emerald jewelry, copper-colored cups, and bicycle as a design element--it's a new kind of Boracay wedding and it worked flawlessly.

The Madore Collection Goes Rebellious

We totally enjoy it when talented artists come together to collaborate on shoots! A few weeks ago, we shared with you designer Veejay Floresca's RTO collection. But check out how the collection was completely transformed into a bad ass fashion shoot that it deliciously looks like how a rebel bride would actually rock the gowns! Don't you just wanna have this kind of bridal portraits on your big day? 


 Photographer RV shares: Featuring The Madore Davao Gown, the look we made was inspired by a Star Wars character, Queen Amidala which gives off that regal and elegant feel. 


RV: The Madore Manila look on the other hand was inspired by a Greek Goddess hence the flower crown and the high key lighting.
  

RV: Finally, for The Madore Vigan we wanted to go for a more antiquated look so we went for a dark but romantic tone.

I have three ultimate favorite Filipino bridal designers, one of which is Veejay Floresca! And not just as a designer but also as a humble superstar human being! I will never forget a conversation I had with a videographer and a photographer in one of the weddings I attended--they said that they are always around beautiful gowns, even Vera Wang gowns--but when it comes to perfectly fitted gowns, nothing comes close to Veejay's gowns.  And I love his whole concept of "Ready-to-Order"--I know this is yet again a super delayed post (yikes!) --but who cares as long as we get to spread the word and promote the fab talents we love, right? Here are some of our rebellious favorites from Veejay's Madore RTO collection!

Anti-White Inspirations

Here in Rebellious Brides, we've pretty much established that we are pro colored bridal gowns. We stumbled upon the site vitostudio.com which offers Filipino designer pieces positioned to be marketed globally and we are loving the anti-white pieces we've seen in the site!

Rebellious Venice Film Festival Gowns

The other day, we brought you some rebellious inspirations from the catwalk. This time, here are some inspirations from GMA 7 premiere actress Lovi Poe at the Venice Film Festival. Don't you just love both of her gowns? And her look? She makes us so proud!

Our dear rebellious brides, when it comes to styling your entourage, please don't fall into the same mistakes as previous brides have done in the past.

The truth is, friends and family just love you so much that even if they don't feel confident and comfortable wearing the gown you have chosen for them, they just don't tell you (at least not to your face). They simply don't want to hurt you even if their own egos and confidence are getting hurt.

Even if you are the bride and it's your special day to shine, make your entourage happy and pretty--don't make them feel fat, or ugly or broke.

We're not saying you are intentionally doing so--but you MIGHT be unknowingly doing it--especially when you are model-esque and look good in anything--well sister--not everyone does.

Here are some mishaps that have been shared with us via direct messages by previous entourage members, and later on we will provide some suggestions on how to style your entourage pretty.

1. Please don't choose unflattering styles. Thin, sexy brides fall into this trap all the time--they think everyone else has a rockin' body and would look fab in dresses that don't look exactly nice to some. Remember that some girls wanna accentuate while some girls want to hide a body part. Learn to put yourselves in your friends' shoe. REBEL X says: "How would YOU feel if you were forced to wear an empire cut gown that makes you look preggers?"

Rebellious Bride Precious Lara's Gown

When we saw  Precious Lara & Marco's wedding, we immediately wanted to feature it on the blog--not only because it was a rebellious celebrity wedding but more so because the bride donned a rebellious gown. So we instantly thought of interviewing Rebellious Bunch - Veejay Floresca to know more about this fantabulous gown and this is what he had to say:

Veejay: When I was asked by Lara to make her wedding gown, I was so happy and very nervous!!! haha.. I know this is going to be a celebrity wedding and a lot of pressure was on me since she won Miss International. When I knew that she was pregnant, the whole pressure was doubled! haha.. but like the basic rule when dressing up a woman, hide her flaws, flaunt her assets. I applied this rule. She has super nice legs, I showed it off--it will make her walk easier, and I made the skirt voluminous and soft to hide the tummy. I chose a blush color because Lara doesn't want a traditional wedding gown ;-) 

While I was in San Francisco, I saw this beautiful lace and I immediately bought it without even looking at the tag! hahaha ;-)

When I was going through Rebellious Bunch - Cherryblocks' blog, one wedding really caught my eye. A bride who seemingly looked quite delicate was wearing an elaborately, uniquely textured gown and was holding a sign that says "I tried being normal once, I didn't like it". I instantly wanted to know more about this wedding and was just completely blown away by the details and the innate rebelliousness of both the bride and the groom.

Rebellious Bride - TJ

It wasn't that I wanted to be different; I was rebellious just because I wanted it to go my way, as I've always imagined it. It just happened that I wanted things that were different from the usual. I liked that my wedding had enough quirks to make it memorable. It helps if your groom is just as rebellious. :)
