Rebellious Bride/Photographer Ruffa
The Ruffa and Mike Team with Pol Tiglao
"Mike loved taking photographs back when he was young and pursued it after graduating college. We took baby steps; learning every trick we needed to add art to our photographs. There was room for improvement daily. I can really feel the passion just yearning for so much more in him. Then, not for long, we established our own photography business. We started with prenuptial shoots and pre debuts. Finally, we then decided to be wedding photographers.
Who wouldn't and couldn't agree that weddings and magic are completely inseparable? That feeling you get when the bridal song starts to echo around the church, then you see the bride walking down the aisle, towards her awaiting groom at the altar's end. These emotions are what captured us the most. Flawless and real. Things we learned to appreciate deeply back when we were both in the college theatre, where we met." -- Rebellious Bride Ruffa
Ruffa's walk down the aisle is probably one of the most wonderful scenes I have seen yet. Mike eagerly awaits his bride's entrance--and when Ruffa does emerge from the doors, he kneels down to take photos of his beautiful bride. It was a testament to their relationship, their journey, encapsulated in this one moment that defined their wedding.
Anna & Chuck's Peanuts Themed Wedding
Photography by Chestknots Studios
As a guest of Anna & Chuck's wedding, I can personally attest to the fact that their wedding--though obviously riddled with refreshingly creative ideas, was even made more memorable because of the personalized, meaningful, and love-filled ceremony. The couple culled inspiration from Peanuts--something they both loved. And it was amazing how consistent it was from the Facebook Event invite, to the directional signages, to the refreshment booth. And just as light, fun, child-like, and positive Peanuts is, the same vibe resonated all-throughout the day and unto the couple's loved ones. You could feel it in the air as friends cheered Chuck on as he made his way to the aisle. It was in the encouraging claps, hoots, and tears. It was in the testimonials and vows that the couple shared with guests, their parents, and to each other. I have to commend the parents as well though. While other parents would refuse a wedding theme such as this, they supported it and embraced it. And that is truly such an admirable way of showing love and support to the couple and their wedding ideas.
So as Lucy Van Pelt would say, "Happiness is a warm puppy." And this wedding was definitely warm and as fuzzy as a puppy :)

Wedding Agency: "Our Big Family Wedding"

"We
had the MOST amazing day. The Wedding Agency/RBs perfected every detail
and we cannot thank them enough for making our day so special..Cyril
and I would be very willing to recommend them highlighting how
professional they were from the start until our wedding day..They just
exceeded our expectations..
THANKS Rebellious Brides-KAI and MICA
with
love, Cyril and Karien:)"
-- Rebellious Bride Karein on The Wedding Agency by The Rebellious Brides
When we first met Karein & Cyril last year, it was very clear that both of their families were vested in their relationship. The family will be very much involved in this wedding--there was no doubt about that.
So when we conceptualized three ideas for them, we threw one that was inspired by the main message or lesson from the movie My Greek Fat Wedding--simply put, we presented a wedding idea that was more of a mindset rather than a wedding theme. Usually when families are highly involved in the wedding it spells out conflict and wedding madness--but what makes this concept rebellious was the fact that we proposed to even highlight what could have been the 'opposition'. "If you can't beat them, join them", we explained.

THE MOST POPULAR RB POST OF ALL TIME
Here in Rebellious Brides, we regularly check our analytics to keep us in tune with you guys---where you are, what you like to read, and perhaps what you guys also don't necessarily like to read.
For instance, it amuses us to know that despite our Rebellious Bouquet Alternatives blog post being a little outdated (it is one of the first, oldest posts we've had on the blog), it is still your favorite feature to read! And this blog post is not just the most widely read of all time, but it is also popularly read on a monthly and weekly basis! And since we realized that this post is a super favorite but also a little over a year old, we've decided to update it a bit for you all.
Enjoy :)

Hooray! I can finally bring back my Vegas blog posts on RB! :)
I'll break the feature down into 3 parts: The Details, The Gown, and The Wedding. But first, for those of you who are new to the blog and are wondering...err..."aren't you supposed to be married already?", please visit one of my previous blogs about this here: Countdown to Round Three
The Wedding Agency - By the Sea Wedding
Photos by Mark Cantalejo |
When Rebellious Couple Dr. Mabeth Rivera and Atty. Karym Laidan commissioned our Wedding Agency service to help them conceptualize and map out the walkthrough of their wedding, they were very clear on three things: They wanted something laid back, creative yet simple, and they wanted the wedding to be in Boracay. And this were non-negotiable.

"Probably the hardest part in doing DIYs is knowing the reason why you are doing it in the first place. Yes, it’s time consuming. Yes, it can be hard. It can sometimes blow your budget even. But you know in the end, it will be all worth it. You’ll know that you have made something out of your own creativity to bring a certain uniqueness to your own wedding. You’ll look back and say your wedding is inspired and totally reflected who you and your hubby are. So keep at it and don’t falter with your visions and inspirations."

The Vegas Elvis Wedding on Green Wedding Shoes
And this is the case with Green Wedding Shoes. I only have a handful of favorite wedding blogs/sites that I visit regularly (not for anything but I myself get overwhelmed with too much wedding stuff that sometimes, I'd like to find inspiration in non-wedding related sources). When GWS emailed me to confirm that they were going to feature the Vegas wedding, I was so thrilled! I tweeted Rebellious Bunch Nelwin Uy that the wedding was gonna get "the feature of all features" but didn't tell him exactly where the wedding was going to be posted 'till it came out. Waiting for the feature was so suspenseful for me to the point that I was even doubting myself already (sorry I'm just dorky that way hehe). And when Nelwin Uy, Dylan of Vatel, my husband, and I finally saw the feature for the first time, we got uber excited and giddy giddy giddy! I just admire GWS and the creator, Jen so much. I am truly passionate about Green Wedding Shoes--their bigness, their ideas, their look, and their featured couples get me really pumped up creatively that if you noticed, some of our blogs have featured GWS once in awhile.
Rebellious Brides is an advocate of our local talent. That's honestly the only reason why we like getting features in foreign blogs. Because of the feature, other Philippine-based wedding artists have been recognized--including Rebellious Bunch Vatel's {etc} Handmade Goodness and Rebellious Bunch Hindy Weber Tantoco.

Leaving on a jet plane tomorrow and once we get to Vegas, we're off to the Clark County to get our marriage license, stop by the Viva Las Vegas Chapel to meet the coordinator, and then we're off to get married the next day.

Fearless Rebellious 2012 Forecast
![]() |
Gabby & Tina's very beautiful Rebellious Wedding lifted from Rebellious Bunch - MangoRed |
The fireworks have been released, all the well-wishes and hopes for 2012 have been said, and just the other day, photographer Nelwin Uy was already off to his first two weddings of the year. It's back to wedding business our dear Rebellious Brides, and it's always great to start fresh.
And what better way to start the year with forecasts, right? But lest you think that we are about to force down our trends, colors, and other what-not down your throats, you're wrong. The truth is, I don't care much for forecasts. I find them entertaining, but I don't believe in them.
I don't believe in dictating wedding colors for the year, just to shepherd the majority of brides into a color that will make their weddings look the same as the next. I don't believe in looking at Kate Middleton's gown and exploding the industry with lace, and more lace. So instead, here are our top 3 Rebellious Forecasts, that we think weddings in general are off to this year, on the basis of how we've seen the end of 2011 was unfolding itself to usher in 2012.
1. Rebellious Proposals
- They say that "uncertain times" bring out the need to profess love, and get married. Whether the end of the world is near or not, the truth is, we can't help but wonder. This is the year where everyone will be trying to accomplish their Bucket Lists, and a time to do grand proposal gestures--and it comes with an equally grand proposal video. One of our closest jeweler friends shared with us that in December alone, he found it so bizarre that he got so many calls from guys who are so eager to get a ring and propose--his family has been in the jewelery business since time and memorial and to him, this was out of the ordinary indeed. The need to document this momentous event has also been strikingly increasing. And why not? A proposal has got to be the most unbelievable moments for a couple. To immortalize it, the same way as the wedding will be immortalized, just makes so much perfect sense.
*Special thanks to Rebellious Bride Christine for the tip :)

"A rebellious bride is someone who does not abide by the rules: she sets the rules! She plans the day the way it is suppose to unfold. She chooses to be happy while daring to be extraordinary. Armed with wit and an open heart, she is a bride with a mission: to transcend convention, not for the sake of being rebellious, but simply because she needs to remain faithful to herself."
