Dress Code: Garden Formal


Let's be honest for a second. The way most wedding guests dress-up could be awfully boring. And for sure a lot of people will be defensive about this. There's no time, there's more important things to do and think of, there's more pressing things we need to spend on, and the wedding is a bride's day, no need to steal her thunder and wear something that's attention-grabbing.

Non-Mainstream Wedding Destination >> Portugal


With all the craziness that goes on in planning a wedding, sometimes you just can't help but wonder if it's better to just pack-up your bags and do the wedding somewhere else with a grand vacation in between. No? 

Here's a concept that we did inspired by that basic mindset that some couples these days would rather just travel as they celebrate their union in a place that moves and inspires them. In this case, we went for another non-mainstream destination to do just that. This time, in Portugal.

A Mockingjay Editorial Wedding


In just six more months, the Hunger Games movie series closes to an end with Mockingjay Part 2.
And we reckon that a proper tribute of the rebel kind is in order.

 If you have read the Mockingjay, you would know that the story of Katniss and Peeta sort of jumps into a Prologue that just kind of assumes that they got married and have a family of their own. This is our own attempt at filling-in the gap and giving our favorite tributes from District 12 a proper wedding.

 In this faux wedding, we thought it would be fitting of Katniss’ personality to keep it intimate—an elopement if you will. However, Katniss would have admitted to herself that she would need to enlist the help of Effie to plan and style the wedding. Only Effie would have been invited in the wedding which she would also gladly volunteer to officiate herself.

Maleficent Mayhem


The past two weeks has been unreal for me and RB Mica. The Maleficent Shoot's gone viral all over the web from Huffington Post, to Yahoo! Japan, to MTV Greece, to Cosmo UK, to even LA's #1 radio station KIIS FM, it's been incredibly wonderful. Every day we would learn of a new feature--and as of this writing we are already at around 40 features across the globe and if I estimate that at a very conservative level, it's safe to say that we've probably generated AT LEAST 2 Million exposures for the shoot including the views, impressions, likes, shares, and the comments. And that's estimating it very lightly.

Some make a collage of their throwback-worthy photos, some have couple trivia games, and of course there's the tried-and-tested AVP. But with so many talented wedding artists in our own neck of the woods, the AVP has evolved in so many creative ways.

Prenup Idea from DongYan


Rivermaya just released the music video of their new song "Tayo Lang Dalawa" -- and it features the soon-to-be-married King & Queen, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. The video is like a prenup video! In fact, it was styled by no other than Miss Kayce Team/KC Leyco who styles most of our editorial shoots and is one of the most sought after prenup stylists today. Never Let Your Wings Be Stolen From You


Rebellious collaborations have long been a staple in the 3 years that we've had this blog. And we pride ourselves for being one of the firsts to do it. Every year is different. But three things remain: 1) We always want to do something that's out of the ordinary, 2) We always want to celebrate talents (both fresh and seniors) and kind of push them out of their comfort zones, and 3) We never take our shoots seriously (topak kung topak! in English, "cray, cray!").

 Melancholy. Reflective. Hopeful. But playful and imaginative as a child. Ian Cruz Films nailed it in this Rebellious Brides Tribute Video. We barely even gave directions. And THAT rebels, is why you hire a pro. 

 Ian's visual representation of Rebellious Brides made me go back to the time when RB Mica and I were writing to our would-be, future readers back in 2011.

RB Mica wrote:

 Yes, this 4-part series was all about a concept shoot to show you pretty rebellious things and new ideas but if you go deeper than that, it is quite a reflection of how we've all collaborated to keep our little community alive--you as the reader, and us as its champion, and the talented wedding artists we support. All coming together as one passion group, with one twisted perspective on love and how to celebrate it meaningfully.

A Thanksgiving Backyard Wedding - The One On Foodie, Food, Food!

There are a lot of ways to interpret a fall-themed wedding. It could be based on the turning of the leaves, corn mazes, hay rides, to name a few. But when A Dash of Jamie & Jacqs Floral Design Studio approached us for this collaboration shoot, we wanted to be unique in our own way of course! And that's why we thought of Thanksgiving--not just because we have been feeling very grateful right now (Back track HERE), but also because when you think of Fall, it immediately takes you to Thanksgiving and plus, the family-style food spread.


This wedding concept shoot therefore, brings back one of the main wedding elements that has been ironically overshadowed by reception styling -- the food itself. We've seen many, many wedding photos and catering portfolios a hundred times over--and don't you find it curious as to why there are very minimal food shots? You see everything else though, right? The huge floral arrangements, the overwhelmingly themed decors, the shabby chic dessert table--but no food in sight. And then when you do see the food, it's gotta be the fancy kind--fillet Mignon this, baked salmon that. However, guests secretly get hungry after and go for a burger (at the end of the day, guests, especially guys just want fuss-free and generously portioned food). READ ON! >>>

Pia + Shuni's Shabby Chic & Mask Fair Wedding

As I was looking through Pia and Shuni's wedding photos, I was immediately taken and impressed by how unique their wedding details were. They actually call their theme shabby chic--but as you will see in this feature, they managed to create such an uncommon interpretation to an otherwise common theme. The wedding felt fun, playful, whimsical, magical, imaginative, and nostalgic as if it were a children's book made to come alive. At the same time, the couple made the whole wedding festivities feel like a private mask fair with many interactive ideas and decorations. Just goes to show that there's still MORE to shabby chic than meets the eye and it's so much fun to create your own wedding rules! 

 Pia & Shuni definitely knew how to curate and edit old ideas from new ones and the result of which is a wedding that we've never seen before! This is definitely one of the most charming rebellious weddings we've seen so far this year :)

Jmie + KC's Virgin Beach Wedding

There are all kinds of rebellious weddings. It can take many, many forms. But my favorite rebellious weddings are those of the subtle kind. Rebellious in the devilish little details. That's what I loved about Jmie and KC's beach wedding at the Virgin Beach Resort. No, there were no obvious blacks or a pair of chucks just to prove the point of being 'creative'. The rebel streak just kind of oozed in the gown, it was in the most amusing wedding gift ever imaginable, it was in the most organic looking wedding rings, in how the bride opted to walk down the aisle, in what the bridesmaids wore. Things that don't necessarily scream rebellious because there's no need to. Because rebelliousness is innate. It doesn't have to be proven. It just kind of shines through. It's just because it's who you are so there's no need to overdo it. But it's there. You know the rebel is there, grinning inside of you.
